This is amazing. I’m sure many Bees can remember a time when testing positive for HIV was basically a death sentence, when children born HIV positive were doomed to an early and painful end. The case of a cured child is miraculous and, hopefully, something that can be reproduced in more and more cases.

If the child is truly cured, it’s really wonderful news.
HIV is a worldwide epidemic… I hope this means an approach that can help people on a large scale will be available in the near future.

Such amazing news. As someone who has lost a family member to HIV, I am super excited about it- even if we have a long way to go.

I read a different article yesterday and that traces of the virus’ genetic material were still detected. I think it’s a little too early to declare the child cured or 100% free from HIV. Hopefully the child is cured!

That is really great – especially if the child is truely cured. I do wonder though if maybe the viral levels have been suppressed to below the levels of the test’s sensitivity and abillity to detect.

I read this somewhere else and I really, really hope that the child stays healthy and the results are replicated – this could change the world and save so many lives.
