hey bee! I had my veil and bouquet for our first look and I’m happy with how it turned out! We also did all of our pictures (aside from the group family photos) before the ceremony and I did take some without the veil and bouquet so that I’d have a variety. Most of the family photos didn’t include my veil because I was sick of it at that point lol.
Also – my husband (who is NOT one to show emotion) admitted that he still got choked up seeing me come down the aisle and my bridesmaids said they could see he was pretty emotional so I wouldn’t worry about the first look taking anything away from that moment 🙂

I didn’t do a first look so I can’t offer advice there, but we did separate bridal party and family photos before the ceremony. I had my bouquet but no veil. It was a 12’ cathedral lace veil and our photos were in the mountains on a bed of pine needles…. nightmare with a tulle skirt. Then after the wedding our joint family, bridal party photos and couples photos I did have my veil. So I got both! I also got some bridal portraits done with and without before and after as well. I would probably just not wear your veil for the first look and photos, but do have your bouquet. Then get some photos after with the veil!
