Any brides out there carrying paper flowers??? I knew from day 1 I didn’t want real flowers.
I am getting married in Vegas and our chapel (and every other) has an in house florist that charges outrageous prices for even a simple bouquet. Not only that, but we are flying home 2 days later, so we don’t even get to enjoy the very limited life span of real flowers. Many chapels also charge you to bring in your own flowers (b/c their florist is losing the revenue), but our chapel only charges for bringing your own LIVE flowers… So I immediately started researcing alternatives. Sola, silk, coffee filter, crepe paper, card stock, wood…
First I bought a silk arrangement online from China, but in the month it took to arrive I had buyers remorse… It just looked cheap. No doubt about it, it was fake and I would be embarassed to carry it. Today I bought a bunch of paper flowers from a seller on Etsy. They look so pretty but are clearly not trying to be real.
My dress is champagne with a claret (dark red) sash, so I ordered all dark red flowers.
Here is my plan for the stems – I’m thinking champagne sating wrap with burgundy sheer overlay:
I also bought some wire and crystal and pearl beads and made little picks that go between the flowers. Like this, but mine are prettier (IMHO):
Any other DIY paper flowers brides out there? Any suggestions for improving my idea? Will past new pix when the flowers arrive.
