In case you need to get caught up to speed, here is the OP. http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/the-gender-reveal#axzz2m33hQYPL
I will explain what happened for those who can’t or don’t want to watch the video, but it was well worth it. Some things went according to plan, some didn’t, but overall it was hilarious, and we were SO happy with the outcome.
After the ultrasound (and for those that don’t know yet we are having a little boy and my ultrasound experience was absolutely amazing) we went shopping after. We found the black balloons, but Party City didn’t have green confetti. They had blue, red, and gold, but no green. We ended up buying green construction paper at Walmart (which was also a bitch to get through since they had all their Black Friday pallets in the aisles, so you couldn’t even see what was on the shelves).
I called my mom to ask how Napoleon was, and she was SO horrible. She was trying to make me crack under questioning and spill the gender. 2 minutes of her interrogation felt like an hour, and finally she is like, “You’re just not going to crack, are you?” Darling Husband and I spent the remainder of the night (until midnight) cutting green construction paper and filling balloons, which is a pain in the ass by the way. We filled somewhere around 13 or 14 balloons with green paper. The last balloon has the blue “it’s a boy” confetti in it.
Thanksgiving and the big reveal came. Darling Husband started coming in with all these black baloons, and my mom is like, “OMG you better not be popping those.” She was already panicking before she even knew what was going on. My brother did the video with my phone, so sorry it is kind of crappy.
Ladies, when we told my mom what she had to do, she got tears in her eyes because she was so scared. She had a panic attack, lol.
Mom also cussed a lot, lol. Darling Husband decided to just lay the balloons on the floor and let her pop them that way since she was freaking out so bad. She put her goggles, and right away thought she could throw the pin at the balloon to pop it. Well, she ended up losing the pin, so Darling Husband had to go searching for it (in the video she says well hopefully its the dog that steps on it and not us, lol). They found it, but in the meantime I had gotten her a longer pin. Armed and ready, she would shove her butt out at the balloons and pop them from behind her, lol. As she got going, my dad guessed they would all be green confetti. She kept saying if they were all green confetti she would be so mad.
It was so much fun watching her pop the balloons because it never really got easier although she did manage to pop 4 in a row without much thought. After popping ALL green confetti, we brought in the balloon with the actual confetti. We kept it hidden because we wanted to make sure that was the last one she popped. I had Darling Husband hold it, and the blue confetti spilled out everywhere. She immediately screams, “IT’S A BOY!!” and gave me a huge hug and cried. My dad was visibly pleased as well. After it was all said my brothers even said congrats and gave me a huge hug. He was beaming ear to ear that he gets a nephew.
She really, truly thought it was going to be a girl, so she was so surprised. She even says on the video something like, “Girls are so much easier to buy for and dress up.” Lol. I ended up buying some outfits already, and while girls are more fun to dress up, I think I’ll be able to manage some cute outfits for our son.
SO without further ado, you can visit the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLrBWLUn0Sk
**I want to note that even I was able to recognize my very strong Northern, Norweigan accent, and I am not even Norweigan, lol. I am from ND, so if you are trying to place my accent, that is where I am from. I also hate my voice, lol.
There are also plenty of Napoleon videos on there to keep you busy too in case you want to watch some videos of our Saint being silly.
THANK YOU TO ALL BEES! Your suggestions and interest was amazing. I hope you enjoy!
