I would absolutely upgrade. I fell in love with my setting not my stone. We had to sacrifice on the stone to afford the beautiful halo setting I get to wear everyday. We considerd setting a quality stone in a solitaire setting and upgrading the setting later until we found out how hard it would be to find this setting again.

Nope – mine was my grandmother’s stone, and I wouldn’t feel comfortable going bigger (even without the sentimental value).

I love my ring! We picked it out the style together and when we picked it, we picked out a style that I can honestly say I’ll love forever.  It isn’t a traditional engagement ring, it’s actually an eternity band and I’m stacking it with my wedding band and my wedding gift (same as my wedding band). I went for classic. The most important aspect was that this is the ring he had made for me and with which he proposed – and that means the world to me!

I may change the setting in the future, but not the stone.

To tell you the truth, if I could do it over again, I would have gotten a small gemstone. That said, I do love my 1/3 carat diamond ring, but I don’t ever see myself buying any more diamond jewelry.
