@Groover808:  Nobody can really tell a Bottega from far away, but that’s not what it’s for 🙂

Just saying, people choose brand names for other reasons than to advertise it to strangers. I’m not much of a Tiffany girl myself, but, I do love some their vintage pieces (NOT the ones stamped “T & Co.” all over).

@joya_aspera:  Totally agree, some designers offer a very unique look, but for sake of a diamond engagement ring, meh.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got a Burberry and Gucci purse I looove, but my clothing comes from Francesca’s and Forever 21 🙂

And the Tiffany Cobblestone ring…love! Although pricey Tiffany or non!

@joya_aspera:  EH, all of their diamonds are better compared to virtually anything you would get at a typical store, which was more of my point.

Were you looking at it under a loupe? Smaller diamonds in a cocktail ring are often of SI clarity, even on the high end.

It’s true that Tiffany DOES sell high quality stones. They have a name and reputation to uphold, so they just don’t offer lower quality stone options.  HOWEVER, Tiffany IS a brand, and you ARE paying a higher mark-up for that little blue box.

If you compare equivalent quality stones (meaning stones with the EXACT same specs) from Tiffany’s to stones from other quality jewelers–Tiffany’s WILL be more expensive.

They do that because they know people will pay it. If you’re okay with that, fine. Just know that it’s NOT a reflection that the stone is any better than ones that are not from Tiffany’s. It all comes down to the 4 C’s.

@kimm99:  No, I never got to that point. I just tried it on and my first thought was “oh no, some of the diamonds are missing!” But then I saw that they weren’t missing… they were just very included.  This was under Tiffany’s flattering lighting and at least a foot from my face.
