im dealing with something with my Boyfriend or Best Friend of 5 months that I’ve never dealt with before at almost 40 years old. I’m frustrated and at my wits end.
On about a half dozen occasions now, within about 24-48 hours of having sex, I get the most disgusting smelly discharge that lingers for up to a week, no matter how many showers I take. I don’t even have that great of a sense of smell, but even I could smell it through my clothes so I knew everyone else could, too. It was a rancid/sour smell, and came with a very watery but clear leakage into my panties for days. No other symptoms.
The first time it happened, I thought I had gotten a case of BV or god forbid, some sort of STI, so off to the Gyno I went. She said that my tests were negative, and sent me home without any medication and just told me to wait it out. Eventually it went away after nearly a week, but I became very self conscious, and would pull away from intimacy and be very self conscious around people. I didn’t really believe that I didn’t have BV, to be honest, but the doctor said I didn’t.
This has happened several more times over the last few months. It doesn’t happen every time we have sex, but every time it does, the symptoms are the same. The last time it happened, I went ahead and got antibiotics, and it seemed like it did go away for a couple of days, but then it came back and is still going on slightly a week later.
Ive done some internet reading, and it seems like perhaps it’s just the combination of his semen and my natural discharge combining together to make a new creation and then just slowly (very slowly) leaking out over the course of the week. He doesn’t smell/taste bad, and my more “exterior” type discharge doesn’t smell/taste bad, it’s literally only the leakage coming from inside over time, so this definitely makes sense.
But it’s still frustrating and embarrassing! I always try to use the bathroom immediately after, but it doesn’t seem to flush it all away. Are we doomed to have to pull out or use condoms forever to prevent this? Has anyone else had this problem, and did you discover anything to prevent it? I’ve started taking a probiotic specifically to help balance my vaginal pH, and I’ve occasionally tried a pH balancing vaginal gel as well, but it hasn’t really helped.
