We’ve narrowed our venue search down to two and our favorite is The Hermitage Museum in Norfolk. My sister can’t make the early summer date they have available, so we’re looking at July are August dates instead. Not being from the area, I’m a little worried about the heat (the wedding would start after 6PM and we would have a tent, guests could take A/C breaks inside the museum if they like). The venue says they host weddings throughout the summer and that with the breeze off the river it is never too hot. Is there anyone who has had an outdoor summer wedding at The Hermitage or in the area? I’d love to chat about your experience. Thanks!

I’ve lived in the area my whole life. You will NEED a tent with AC. That part of summer is super hot here, and while there is usually a breeze from the river, there isn’t always. Nightfall helps minimally. If you don’t want you and your guests to be in 98 degree weather with 100% humidity then please figure out a way to have air conditioning in that tent.
Also remember that tents hold in heat a bit too, so it will feel even hotten in there.
ETA: I didn’t mean to sound so harsh. I’m just picturing a horribly sweaty day. The venue is beautiful, and wonderful even in the summer. It just requires a tent with strong air conditioning.
