@capergrrl: When I think about my future I feel like this. After spending 4 years going back to school, SO will spend 2 years getting his MBA, so we are going to have a ridiculous amount of debt and it will seem like we will never have enough money to raise a family.
I would say to you… Do you rent? If so, maybe downsize to a 1 bdrm for a year so you can bank the extra money? Is that a possibility? Would either of you consider getting a PT/Weekend job? I always get a PT job or freelance when we start itching to go to Europe, even when I was working full time.
I work with a woman who said “I wish I just got pregnant when I was younger rather than pay $XX,XXX on IVF now.” That’s not to say they would have conceived when they were younger either though. They were maybe infertile all along. But she’ll never know.
This isn’t to say you will even have trouble conceiving, but if you really want a baby soon, don’t let your finances stand in the way, families from every economic background have found ways to make it work.
