Hi, can I join in?  I am on Femara this cycle , it didn’t work last cycle so I am not holding much hope that it will work this time.  I think we will be doing injectable drugs and possibly IUI next cycle.  I just wanted to see if any one had experience or advice to share with me as this next phase is a whole new world for me.

I think my drugs might be covered by my insurance but the IUI will not.  To get the drugs covered, I do need special approval.  Has anyone else experienced this?  I am just wondering if it can get approved in 2 weeks or less.  I would hate to wait for another cycle due to insurance approval delays.  Thanks for any info you can share!

@kentuckygirl:  I took Femara several years ago and it didn’t help for me.  But, my ovaries are ridiculously stubborn.  I had to have insurance approval for my injectable meds and it took less than 24 hours.  The pharmacy just had to call to make sure it was covered and how much was covered.  It was super quick.

I got pregnant on injectables with IUI back in July and am currently 20.5 weeks along.  I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have – I know it’s very overwhelming!

@kentuckygirl:  Thank you!  When I was on Femara, I never did follicle monitoring.  I think some girls do.  I would just go in on day 21 for progesterone bloodwork.  For the shots, I’d go in on day 1 for a baseline ultrasound.  Then go back in a few days later.  I think I’d go in about every other day until I had enough follicles to trigger.  So that part really depends on how well you respond.  My second injectable cycle (I did 2 with timed intercourse and 1 with IUI) I think I had maybe 2 or 3 ultrasounds total because I responded really well that cycle.
