How long is it expected to be down? Server issues are generally fixed pretty quickly.

I’m having the same issue- I keep thinking I wish I had used another place for our site but we also printed it on the save the dates. I mean, okay, maybe no one will be checking it at 9:30 a.m. on a Friday but you never know!

I wouldn’t worry about it.  The chances of someone looking at your website today exactly at 9:20am EST are very slim.  I’m sure the knot will be back up soon.  I would be more concerned if it was the Friday before the wedding.

Maybe there’s another place to build a website to use as an alternative incase people call? I’m just annoyed because I spent so much damn time on it- we’re having a Destination Wedding and I added so many details for the guests- places to stay, where to go to do fun things in the area, our registery, etc etc etc. *sigh* I may start building a backup one just incase!

Boo ๐Ÿ™ Can you maybe make a free Weebly page and then link to it from your Knot website. Like ” Hey! our page has moved- follow this link” ? I visit the Knot all day long and haven’t noticed it being down often, but if you want a back up plan that could work.

@PeachyBee:  The other thing you can do is create domain (ie: godaddy) and redirect it to whatever site you want.  For example: http://www.peachybeeandgroomwedding.com.  It can be directed to the knot page or to another page, if the knot crashes.  Just a thought…

Oh no! We had our wedding website there and didn’t have problems. It will probably be fixed soon, though. Hopefully no one even notices!

It says they are improving the site. It will probably means its being reformatted.

No panicking. Plus if someone tries to see your site and it doesn’t work they’ll just come back later.

This is frustrating! I’ve been trying all morning! My invitations got delivered yesterday to most people and they included my wedding website (aka the knot) – I got e-mails this morning saying people signed the guest book but now I can’t read it since it’s down ๐Ÿ™ Frustrating!

I don’t know how The Knot’s websites work since anything we do will be self-hosted, but if they give you a domain name (i.e. johnandjanedoesbigday.com) as part of it, then you should have ultimate control of that to point it at any site you want. For free sites, you could use Blogspot or WordPress – many templates can work as traditional websites instead of a blog design.

Argh. Is it still down? I’m actually getting some planning done today and I’d like the satisfaction of checking it off the checklist lol!

Yuck! I just tried my website and noticed it was down. Wasn’t sure if it was my internet or The Knot. Thank goodness for this board – otherwise I wouldn’t have known! My invites arrived to most everyone yesterday and I’ve already gotten 3 texts and 2 calls and 4 emails about the site not working. Sucky timing!! ๐Ÿ™ Hope it’s fixed soon..
