Also Projectwedding.com (I believe it’s a sister site of WB?) has a ton of great articles, vendor reviews that I haven’t come across elsewhere (and they are honest which can’t be said for WW or the Knot, etc). They may not have the same tools, if any at all, but they are a very helpful site from what I have seen.

zippylef: Yes, my name is from those books! They’re really great. It’s also the name of my cat. 🙂
I totally forgot about that little video player! It won’t let you collapse it, so it takes up half the page and starts playing their little advertisements. Annoying.

I never posted on the knot, but I lurked on the boards when I was wedding planning…and it was horrendous. I actually complained to the administrators, sent an e-mail talking about how disrespectful, snarky, and negative the women are on the boards and how they attack people. I asked to have my username removed/deleted and to stop receiving e-mails. Someone responded and apologized, but never removed me from their list. Now that I’m married I read The Nest, but I stay away from the forums, I’m too afraid!

oh goodness, I’m happy to know it’s not only me who got really bad vibes from the Knot! I posted a question on there a while back, something about caterers I think, and most of the responses just seemed kinda… not-so-nice in tone, I guess? Hard to describe, but worlds different from this site. So I never posted on there again, and thankfully found this site!
And like a couple others mentioned, I couldn’t STAND that video player thingy at the top of the page either! So annoying!

@mogget- I’ve read all of them! I love those books.

I’m a Knot victim too! I was absolutely torn to shreds once when I mentioned how I tried on a dress – and loved it – but it was too dark for me. (It wasn’t an actual wedding dress… it was BCBG and the color was “champagne”… practically brown). Well, I got called “extremely rude” repeatedly… since apparently I was putting down others’ dresses (?). All I was doing was sharing some pictures. WOW. That isn’t the only example, but it’s the most recent.
The girls on my local Knot board (Las Vegas), however, are wonderful!

I’m more of a lurker on the Knot boards than a poster, because it can be a bit of a lion’s den at times. However, I found my local board to be a GREAT source of information on vendors, especially in the beginning of my planning.

Wow, I had heard that before, I think I’m going to have to take a look to see it just out of curiosity, but for the same reason I have always stayed away. I’m plenty happy here on the bee!

Every wedding board is bound to have some drama and cattiness, but from what I’ve seen, bees work together where knotties tend to get in a tangle. 🙂 Welcome to the hive!

Instead of “The Knot” they should call it “The Snot” -FI regarding the super-bitches on a certain wedding website.

I only used it for the guest list manager, web site & check list

YES I asked a question about a moissanite ring back in the day when I was contemplating that and people like FREAKED OUT because I hadn’t read the rules, etc. Also in general everyone freaks out when people who are not engaged talk about weddings which I just think is rude.
