Thanks for the advice! My FI’s daughter will be a couple month’s shy of 5 at our wedding and will be the flower girl, and I am worried about her behavior. We are having a full catholic mass, so that is a long time for a little girl who doesn’t regularly attend mass to sit and be pretty. But we are going to have her sit with her grandma so fingers crossed taht everything will work out!

Oh and good thoughts on the ponytail holders! I am guilty of this for our engagement pics and it drives me up a wall whenever I see it!

Sorry to hear about the things that went wrong, but they all seem pretty minor at least.

On another note, I love your hair! Do you have any other pictures of it?

It’s comforting to hear your stories and remember that its rare for everything to go right!  We had 7 no-show guests the day of, and they had all rsvp’ed yes! That was frustrating.  And on our wedding donut, they put the cake toppers on kinda weird. The mustache was upside down, and they were supposed to be on cute little bride/groomdonut holes. Super minor I know, but it makes me wince every time I see the pic.

One thing that I wish I had known before was to loosen up my corset dress before eating!  My mom made sure that it was tied nice and tight for the ceremony and pictures, which was fine.  But I got tummy problems later in the reception and couldn’t eat all the nummy desserts I made or drink anything but water or sprite. I also was sad that this also prevented me from dancing as much as I would have liked.  so,  Girls, please loosen up your dresses BEFORE you eat!  You will thank me later!

+1 on the bustle. my girls kept doing it wrong. id tell them, you just have to match the strings to their colors and they snapped back “we know how to match colors” – but it was wrong all night. the next morning i looked at it and the colors were definitely all mixed up so my strings were tied to the wrong strings. havent seen pictures yet, but im worried.

+1 on the hair tie. i forgot to take mine off for the first look. i noticed it right away. it was the one picture our photographer showed us for a sneak peak and i was bummin.

+1 on the tulle for flowergirls. mine was long, but they kept stepping on it and it tore the tops down so their little boobies were showing. hehe. they were 1 and 3.

i decided not to wear a bra. because in the morning when i got dressed, my dress was tight and i was supported well. i didnt want to deal with the extra bulge the dress gave me. buuuut my dress loosened up as the night went on. and i look like saggy grama booby bride =/

i never took my veil off. i just poofed it backwards for some pictures. and forgot all about it. im sure in the end of the night, it just looks like a sloppy mess.

things were crazy busy. family pictures are going to be scattered – aka my family all left immediately after the ceremony, so we will have no family pictures. and our 2 hours for pictures seemed like 30 minutes. didnt get near enough bridal shot party pictures, i already know it. most of our picture time was groom + groomsmen and me with the ladies. not many of us together or just me with my husband.

@Josina: Congrats on the wedding!  You look amazing, I love the bridge pic!  I am also in Iowa, where did you get married??  My wedding is not for awhile, but thanks for the tips!

My bustle was a disaster too, after the seamstress told me how great it would be, and it looked great in the shop…my bridal attendant tied the ribbons and literally 2 minutes after I got into cocktail hour I heard “POP!” and had to have my girls find safety pins and then it went downhill from there…I get my pics back within the week and I really hope that every one of the reception pics doesn’t have me hauling the train around but I fear it will.  Oh well.  I really should call the shop and tell them how fast it broke!

here is a non-pro pic, you can see I have a fist full of dress…
