Quick back story because this has been a long time in the making… 15 years ago I met my [now fiance] when we were in high school. We dated for a few years ended up having a son and sadly not working out because we were just too young to have it all figured out back then. We stayed close friends and were there for each other even did things together like family vacations for our son. He was always there for me if I needed anything and I was there to support him when he was injured 10 years ago and became paralyzed from the chest down. 3 years ago however we ended up reconnecting on a different level and after 10 years apart we decided to try again. He ended up buying an engagement ring not long after that which I had helped pick out and he locked it away until he fully paid it off. For 3 years I wondered when it was coming and always felt like I had to be on my toes but eventually probably 6 months ago I stopped wondering and waiting. I think he was hoping I would forget (LOL) so it could be a big surprise. Finally however he proposed on my birthday on my favorite pier in Ocean City, Maryland. It was the middle of the night and extremely windy so there were no other people to snap a photo, he tried to record it setting the phone on his lap. It was so windy though you can barely hear anything.
So I was standing on the side looking at the waves hitting the shore when he asked if we wanted to take one last selfie and head to the boardwalk. When I got my phone out he held the ring up and asked if I ‘would make an honest man out of him’. I had taken the actual selfie at the same exact moment which turned out hilarious. I asked if he was kidding and he laughed and asked if that was a yes, which it was. I was completely caught off guard I had always hoped I’d have my hair nice and my nails done after thinking about it for years ya know… it was so windy my hair was everywhere and my nails were a mess but I was so happy I didn’t care. The long wait is over and as for the proposal itself, it was perfect and sweet. My favorite place in the world at my favorite time of year, he definitely knew what I’d love the most. 🙂
Pictures will be posted shortly, my computer is anything but cooperative tonight. I tried to keep this as short as I could sorry it’s still a bit lengthy.
