This is just a little expression of my frustration with our mail delivery as of late. Fiance and I mailed our invites out in march, and little by little responses are coming in. Our RSVP date is April 25th, but I dont mind some late arrivals as we have some time left before we have to get numbers into the caterer (In June).
Anyway, 3 weeks ago, a neighbour of ours rings our doorbell and hands us 3 envelopes with response cards in them saying that she found them scattered on her lawn. We were grateful to her for bringing them to us as those would have gone missing or would have been completely ruined by the melting snow (they were pretty wet already). We were upset at the carelessness of the mailman, but we let it go since everyone makes mistakes and those envelopes are quite smaller from the avg sized letter. But then a week later, a different person comes to my door and she said she found the envelope the next street over. I know that it wasn’t dropped at the same time as the other three as the envelope wasn’t too damaged or wet like the other ones, And it was in a different area. I was upset again but whatever, I let it go. This week however, I thought it was strange that I was not getting many responses in my mail box considering the deadline coming up and the fact that some people messaged me saying they sent theirs a while ago. As I was leaving for the gym yesterday, yet another woman comes up to me asking if I was me, and when I said yes, she handed me anorther response card! I asked where she found it, and she said “on the main drag” which is not that close to where I am. Again, I was super grateful that these people have been taking the time to Bring these cards to me, but what stresses me out, is the fact that I don’t know how many are actually dropped and losT!
I’m going to have to track everyone that I don’t hear from down to get their Responses verbally or online. I mean, I know that brides have to do that anyway for a few stragglers, but I have about 50 responses I have yet to get.
I had to launch a complaint against Canada Post Today , because I want them to let my mailman to know that he’s gotta be A little less careless when it comes to smaller envelopes and hopefully that will put a stop to s/he dropping my responses all over the neighbourhood.
Sigh, I feel like I’m gonna have my work cut out for me. Still hoping that some people have just sent theirs late rather than the cards floating out into the abyss
Thanks for listening!

brooke25: hahaha I was going to ask if you were located in Canada and then the answer was the bottom of your post. Canada post is atrocious IMO. Our mail carrier probably works 2 days a week? Maybe. At best. We mailed our invites at the beginning of April and one was bounced back to us labelled “return to sender- wrong address”. We double and triple checked with those guests and that is 100% their correct address. Sigh.
Best of luck with the complaint. Because it’s a union and also a branch of the government, I don’t have much faith it will lead to anything but it may just feel good to let them know how crappy they are! 🙂

i’d complain to the post office and say something to the mailman too. it’s absurd that he’s being so careless.
our mailman was regularly delivering the wrong mail to us earlier in the winter, and to our neighbors. i complained a while ago, and it kind of worked. he now double checks the mail. i also caught him a few months ago, sitting in his mail truck around the corner from my house, reading magazines that were supposed to be delivered. i called the post office immediately and complained, it was ridiculous (and he was committing mail fraud). i miss our former mail lady. she was awesome.

colorofmyheart: yikes! How unprofessional. He should know better than to reading other peoples magazines. I’m glad that he does double check now, and that the right people are getting their mail (hopefully)
fallparkbride: I’m in Newfoundland. I haven’t had any other trouble getting my mail ever. I don’t know if this person is new, but who ever it is, is being careless. Like I get that the envelopes are small and can be easily missed, but come on, sort the mail first and put them on top of my pile or something .
CalOilerGurl: thanks! I knew when I called that it may be a dead end , but I felt as if someone there should know about it lol The rep was really nice and I got a confirmation email that a complaint was lodged. They said if it keeps happening to call back with my reference # and we’d go from there. Hopefully I won’t need to call again *fingers crossed*

CalOilerGurl: I have yet to mail anything out related to the wedding but I have also had experiences like that with Canada Post for work. I mail something out with the address in block capital letters and do it correctly, but the mail sometimes gets sent back saying that the address is wrong.
brooke25: That really sucks. Good luck with that!
