- Wedding: September 2015
If anyone has been following my story since I joined in August, it’s been quite a rollercoaster. You have also learned that 1. We’ve been planning our wedding before he proposed, and 2. I tried really hard to figure out what was going on despite him keeping the ring/proposal a huge secret.
Well, I WAS WRONG. Wrong about everything! But before I describe that, I’ll share my proposal story 🙂
My now fiance got home from work shortly after me Friday evening. He followed me upstairs, and had two small bouquets in his hand (one with a pink rose and baby’s breath, and the other with 3 white roses). This was my first hint. As I put stuff away, and cleaned a few things up, I told him that I was kind of craving margaritas and Mexican food. The entire time we discussed restaurants or whether we wanted to stay at home, he would not take off his jacket, even when I commented on it. lol.
We found a cute Mexican restaurant neither of us have been to. He ordered us shots of tequila, which is a bit out of character, but commented on how it calms his nerves. After dinner, he asked if I wanted to grab coffee. When we were leaving the coffee shop, he opened my car door, let me get inside, and then he got down on one knee. He said something along the lines of how much he loves me and wants to marry me. I just kissed him and said, “Is this where I say yes??”
We sat in the car and talked about everything for awhile, then he said, “My sister has champagne for us.” We went to his sister and brother-in-law’s house and celebrated with them! It was all amazing. It was us. It was simple. Everything was perfect.
Turns out, my Fiance spent months trying to track down the perfect purple/gray spinel. He didn’t order the one I originally sent him (which I was relieved about, because I was a bit worried about the quality). He ordered the center stone, a 2.5 ct oval spinel, off of a vendor on Etsy from Canada. He bought the setting from Zales, and had it set by a local shop. Unfortunately, the head that came with the setting was too small, so they had to special order and replace the head with a 6-prong. But the ENTIRE thing turned out so much better than I could have ever imagined!!!!
Thank you to all the supportive Bees that have been there for me through my waiting process 🙂 This site is so wonderful, and I can’t wait to continue planning… openly 😉
