We have three adults living in our home. One(me) who doesn’t drink milk at all, and two that go through it like there is no tomorrow.

It wasn’t unusual for my family (five kids) to go through a gallon or more every day when we were younger. I have no idea how much I’d consume on my own, but it would probably take me about a week for a gallon.

Haha this is funny! I can go through a half-gallon in 4 days if I’m in a milk-drinking mood, or it can last over a week if I’m not drinking much. I have to buy half-gallons because living by myself a gallon will go bad before I drink it, unless I’m using it for alot of cooking.

@Minutiae: That’s exactly how my FI’s family was when he was growing up, even five kids. But they have their own cow so it was never really an issue!

I’m not much of a milk drinker unless we have my favorite cereals or baked goods (which is not often). Fiance is on again/off again. When he is in a milk drinking mood, we go through a gallon/week.

I go through a half-gallon of soy milk in 7-8 days by myself. I always thought that was pretty normal. Maybe not?

I go through a carton or half galon (1 litre) of soy milk per two weeks maybe?  As for cow milk, I only use it for my coffee so thank god I have roommates who drink it.  It all depends on people.  I personally don’t like it much and only use it (even soy) for smoothies or cooking.

In my family’s house (not the house where I live with my fiance, but the house where I grew up), we go through at least a gallon a day, maybe two. I’ve got 4 brothers, ages 17-23.

10 days for a whole gallon of milk, sounds about right for me.  My Darling Husband gets into these kicks where he eats a ton of cereal so it might take us a week to go through a gallon of milk.  Then he get over the cereal kick and the milk expires before we empty the milk. (2 weeks).

I don’t drink milk on it’s own.  I usually use it for cooking, so that’s the only reason I would use a lot of it.  (Pudding, flan) My Darling Husband will drink milk with dinner sometimes.

We usually finish off a gallon every 8-10 days or so. Less if we’ve recently made cookie dough, more if we don’t have any cookies or cereal in the house!

i rarely drink milk but when i get in one of my moods, i always make sure to buy ultra-pasteurized since it keeps longer then regular pasterized milk. but even then if i am eating a lot of cereal then i will go through milk faster or if i am making a dessert.

We throw about 1/2 of the 1/2 gallon away every week and a half or so.  I only cook with milk  and my Fiance puts it in his coffee.  That’s about it.  I hate not having it when I cook though.

None – we’re not a milk-buying household.  Neither was the house where I grew up.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE milk. I, myself can go through a gallon of milk within 2-3 days of buying it.  If I only bought 1/2 gallon I would be at the store constantly.

I go nuts if I don’t have milk in the fridge!
