@Miss Chapstick: I LOVE seeing misused/randomly inserted quotation marks.  They crack me up!  It boggles my mind when I try to imagine what they must have been trying to convey in inserting them.


I’m obviously in the deep minority but I enjoy variations in pronunciation and seeing two words becoming compound words and stuff, when it makes intuitive sense.  Accents historically have just lead to language change and language change is useful.  Obviously, confusing one legitimate word for another isn’t productive, but I think it’s okay if language changes over time via subtle alterations in the way words are used and spelled. If it didn’t, we wouldn’t have our wacky, wonderful, enormous language.  As long as it’s plainly clear what you’re trying to convey, I think some sorts of variation in pronunciation and written language can be fun and useful.
