So this might have been answered before but I’m lazy and didn’t feel like looking though previous posts….
I always take my temp orally first thing in the AM before I even get out of bed, but someone told me vaginally is more accurate? I’m just curious if I’m sabataging myself or not ;-p

@the_newlymintedmrs-s17: Vaginally is the most accurate way!

vaginally is more accurate, but most people can still see a pattern/confirm ovulation with oral temperatures.

Vaginally is more accurate but if you’re not an open-mouth sleeper, orally is just fine. I always temped orally (mostly cause I was too embarassed to have Darling Husband wake up & see me probing myself), and never had a problem with the readability of my charts.

I’ve definitely read that vaginally is more reliable, but I do orally (despite being an open-mouth sleeper) and I always see a definite ovulation day and temp shift. Consistent timing is important too – not my favorite part! I hate that alarm going off at 7:30 am on the weekends. 🙁

@MrsRugbee: <– LOL! That made me crack up! ‘probing myself’. Lol!!!
Also, important thing to remember is that your ‘heat pocket’ is very close to your lower back teeth. My thermometer actually came with a very nice descriptive chart showing what kind of temp range I can expect depending on where I place the thermometer. I should be keeping it as CLOSE to my ‘heat pocket’ as possible. If you don’t do that, you will get a wide range of temps.
