I’m surprised about:
-how much he likes taking care of me (little things, like getting me a glass of water, getting me the comforter, going to the corner store for some ice cream…)
-how often he cooks now: before we moved in he made pasta occasionally and that’s about it (mostly it was takeaway). Now he loves to BBQ and always makes eggs, beans and toast on weekends. It’s not that complicated but much appreciated.
-he takes his clothes off on the main floor and hangs his shirts off everything (dining room chairs, couch, bar stools…)
-how much he loves cats, when he claims he used to hate them

@MrsMcGyro: I did a pre-emptive strike last winter on my FI’s t-shirt collection. Right before winter break I cut 60 or so of his fraternity shirts into large squares and took the pile home with me. I returned with a queen size quilt. The next quilt is his blood drive/donation shirts- that quilt will probably be twin or full sized.

lol honestly the thing that surprised me the most was how much he DOESN’T drive me crazy. I guess I had low expectations? I had lived with an ex and it was terrible. We fought every day. I had mentally prepared myself for things to just really suck for a while as we were getting used to each other… but honestly living with him is like a thousand times better than not and there is very little that he does that surprised me.
But since we all like to bitch a little… a few things:
1) His definition of clean is polar opposite of mine. I would say that I am CLEAN and he is TIDY. like he gets super annoyed when I leave papers laying on the coffee table, or mail on the counter, or my nail stuff on the floor. Clutter drives him batty and he’s always following me around picking up after me. And yet he can’t see that there are toothpaste splashes on the sink, a ring in the toilet, and mold starting in the grout? I need my environment CLEAN and smelling nice. The kitchen and bathroom have to be spotless. But I don’t care about clutter. So um… theres some tension there. 🙂
2) his fingers are always dirty. Like I don’t know how… but whatever he touches smudges. Every week I have to wipe down the cabinets because they get all fingerprinty from him. And I don’t really understand why because my fingers don’t do it (you can tell the only two cabinets he uses vs. the ones i use).
If these are my biggest complaints I think that I’m doing ok… heh.
