I was a journalist for years before we got together, so I don’t want to lose my maiden name completely. . .I’m going the MYFIRSTNAME MYLASTNAME HISLASTNAME route.
I considered hyphenating, but all I heard was about what a pain it is.
When we have kids, if we have a boy, my maiden name will be our son’s middle name as well,

@desertsunrise: I have a feeling I’m going to do the same when we get married. My first degrees are in my maiden name, so I’d like to keep it but still take his last name.
The other option is First, Middle, Maiden, His Last, but being in healthcare, I can’t imagine signing First, Maiden, His Last a zillion times a day.
For now, I’m leaning toward First, Maiden, His last name. If I take his last name, we’ll have the same first and last initials, which is fun.
We’re both fairly traditional, and his only name request is that his last name be in there somehow.

It’s funny because my SO’s last name is the first three letter of my five letter last name! so it won’t be that big of a difference. I haven’t decided if I just want to take his last name or hyphenate it. I think it would be pretty epic if I hyphenate mine and his. I always joke that he should take my name and hyphenate it with his too lol
