So this past weekend, I went dress shopping, originally for my bridesmaids & just a “fashion show”/back up option for dress #1. So as my mother told me this would happen before I even went, I fell in love with another dress. The problem was, I had already ordered this other dress that hasn’t come in yet, hence the reason for the back up plan. I told the bridal salon (David’s Bridal in Torrance) my situation, and they weren’t pressuring me at all to buy their dress. The only pressure that I felt was that I would have to rush order the new dress right then and there because my wedding is afterall a month and a half away & the place that they order from is on the east coast, which is 3hrs ahead of us.
So I call dress No. 1’s shop to see what is up with the dress and at first they tell me that they are busy and they would have to call me back. I call my Fiance to tell him what’s happening & to get some support in making my decision. He tells me that I should wait to see what happens with dress no. 1. I asked him what if that dress doesn’t come in? Do you want me walking down the aisle naked? I mean I know he would like that, but I don’t think anyone else would appreciate that. So he tells me that he’ll support me in whatever decision I make because in the end it will be me walking down the aisle in the dress not him. Thanks….So that was pretty much a 15 min conversation. Dress No. 1’s shop hasn’t called me back when they said that they would, so I call them. And the bomb just dropped….They said that they were expecting this dress to come in this past month. They claim that they have been calling the dress company to get the answers needed & they said that the company ahs been giving them the runaround. & they said that they don’t want to make me wait for that dress any more & that I could come in and pick one of their samples. Now the samples that they have are nothing like the dress that I chose. So I asked (because they didn’t even offer this option) if I could have my money back, because I had already put down $420 for this dress. They said that it would be possible, but for some reason, I feel like they won’t be able to do this. So all this time that they had, they didn’t even bother to notify me of what is happening, even though I did call them 2 weeks ago to find out when my dress was coming in.
So back to David’s Bridal, I tell them that I will be taking the dress & what had just happened. They told me since I was feeling unsure, about whether or not I’ll be getting my money back. By California Law, if you don’t receive the services that you pay for, the banks are required to reimburse you the money that you’ve already paid (learned something new). Another thing to add to the pressure, I could have bought their sample dress at taken the dress home after they cleaned it everything, but the dress was too short. So in order to get the dress I want in time, I would have to order it by 3pm and all of this happened at 2:30pm!! On top of that, they didn’t have my size that they could rush over. They only had a size 10 and I was a size 12. They gifted me the rush order charges & the alterations, beause they couldn’t order the correct size. I am in the middle of still losing weight, so this will definetly give me more motivation to get the inches off.
So I just wanted to thank the lovely ladies at David’s Bridal in Torrance (especially Hilary & Lynn). And with no further adu, here is the dress that saved my wedding day!!! Don’t mind the cheesy smile that I’m giving, this was taken before the whole situation started. (That’s Hilary in the back, fixing the dress, she also showed me the bustle, it will be a bustle that goes underneath the dress, i don’t know which one that one is)
