asapalhaca: It’s pretty much a completely different style. Btw the last two look like two different people. Did someone else try on your dress or did you just attached the wrong pics?

I’m confused. Did she chop off the sleeves?

I’m so sorry Bee this sounds like a nightmare.  This may not be what you want to hear but you know the phrase throwing good money after bad?  Well I feel like that is maybe what is happening here.  Looking at the dress there are still some pretty major issues going on.  At this point I think you need to cut your losses and get yourself to a bridal boutique.  From your original budget you still have around 1200 left which gives you a pretty good chance of finding something in like a sample sale off the shelf which will fit you, as you look a fairly standard size.

Sorry to hear what a terrible experience this whole process has been… but I just really don’t think it looks salvageable at this point.  I hope you get something you love and feel fantastic on your big day.

I agree with the bee above… 🙁  Its not terrible but I dont think youre gonna feel like you should feel in it day of.  I got my maggie sottero sheath dress for $1,100… sounds like you still have room in your original budget…. or adrianna pappel makes some cute white dresses for around 400 if you want something with no train.

Baby,  I’m reading your post and I’m cringing, because this is exactly what I  did too!  Read my first ever post on the bee and you’ll see.  The only difference was that I complained to my bank after the Chinese shop refused to deal with me.  I opened a dispute and got all my money back.  I only lost the shipping cost of sending the dress back.  Next,  I  hurried my ass into a local bridal boutique,  ordered a normal dress and am so happy now.  Here is the example of shitty beadwork that was on my dress 1, and the fabric was just like you describe – cheap polyester worse than bathroom curtain material. This was supposed to be a replica of Maggie Sottero Sasha dress.  These shitty dull  beads and thread was supposed to be sparkly crystalwork! The shop stitched thread instead of beads in most places!

This is what it was supposed to be like:

Sorry is sideways, but you can see the difference. And this is the dress I bought after returning Chinese replica:

Now I’m very happy.  Recommend for you to stop wasting money on bad dress,  buy something else.

ooohhh I feel for you – I agree with the other bees though – buy another dress if you can afford it and sell this one (it’s not so bad, someone might like it). goodluck.

Such an interesting situation. You are a brave girl to attempt alterations that cost more than the actual dress! I have to say the dress from China, while not an exact replica, doesn’t look horrible. It actually looks great on you. However if the material was cheap and itchy I guess it doesn’t matter how good it looks. I’m sad you had to get rid of the sleeves, but it’s lovely strapless as well. The fold is throwing me off though… That should definitely not be there.

Torn as to what you should do. Spending another $1000+ seems crazy, but sticking with that dress seems a bit of an undesirable option as well. Like another bee mentioned I got my Maggie Sottero sheath gown for $1100 +$100 for alterations and it’s my dream dress so it’s totally possible to find something affordable. If you tell your bridal consultant at the shop your budget I’d hope they’d make sure you stay within that by only pulling dresses in that range!

I have to say I think it looked better before the local seamstress touched it.  Obviously how it feels and looks in the picture are two different things though.  IMO I would go look for a dress from a shop to buy, I don’t see how this can be fixed, hate to be blunt but I really think it looks worse after it was “fixed” 🙁  Sorry you have to go through this!
