I’ve never heard of this before!  Very cool.  I wonder how accurate it actually is.

Funny!  I was just reading about this.  I have my NT scan on Friday, I’m hoping I can try out this theory and figure out if we are having a boy or a girl.  I’ll be almost 13 weeks at my NT scan.

Ooh…this is interesting.  I’m going in for an 8/9-week ultrasound on Thursday, so I’ll have to look for the nub!  We don’t plan to find out the gender of our baby until he/she is born, so we’ll have to wait a while to see if it proves accurate for us!

Hmm… is that how the doctor who did my NT scan predicted the gender?  She thought she knew the gender based on my ultrasound (@13 weeks), and she was correct!

I had an ultrasound at 11 w 2 days, and the tech told us that she is 99% sure of the sex. We had another ultrasound at 12 w 1 day. The baby was measuring a little ahead at 12 w 5 days, and the tech (a different one) told us that she was 95-98% sure of the sex… the same sex!!!!

So I think there is some way that they can tell the sex so early.

But I think there is much more room for error so early, and a lot of people don’t get too many ultrasounds, so ~18-20 weeks is a good time to confirm the gender.

How fascinating!  Wish I had heard about this when I was pregnant, lol.  Can’t wait to hear if your prediction is correct. 🙂

I wish I had a shot of our baby from 12 weeks to be able to do the nub theory! It’s definitely interesting. I have also heard about the skull theory but don’t know how to decipher that one.

i had never heard of it either until my FB group started talking about it! but yes, not all of them will show a nub and like i said, its only visible during a specific time frame (i think 8 week is too early to that previous poster who said she’d look for it at her 8/9 week unltrasound – my 8 week just looks like a tiny shrimp…..)

@andy113: My 9 week ultrasound still looked like a shrimp. A shrimp with a bit of a head. LOL. My 11 week looked like a real baby– I was SHOCKED at the transformation in those two weeks. We’ve seen the nub at 11 and 12 weeks! (Supposedly it’s a boy nub… we’ll have to wait to confirm!)
