Here’s my dress, which I LOVE (pre-alterations).
It is definitely ivory. Glowy, candlelight ivory.
Here’s our reception venue, with the white linens and chair covers provided by the venue:
We’ll be using burlap runners and pops of color and chair sashes to break up the white, but we will also be using white in our decorations (doilies, etc). You can’t really fight that much white.
So… what say you. Will I look out of place, or just especially special?

@Sunnybrook: Mine was ivory and we had white linens. Honestly no one will care. No one will point it out. Plus makes you stand out more (:

@pinkzebra: +1 My sister had an ivory dress and there were white linens on the tables. I don’t think anybody even thought about it. It was a beautiful wedding.

Your dress will look beautiful and it will look ivory. I think it will look great with the burlap.

I didn’t even know this was an issue. It’s certainly not something I’d ever notice.
I only notice if things like the veil or crinoline don’t match well with the dress fabric. But never linens.

Thanks all. Honestly, I had even commented about this on another bride’s post, saying “oh, heck! Who cares!”… but once in a while I get crazy girl brain and start to lose my “it’s just about the fun!” mentality.
Honestly… when both my dress and the linens are covered in BBQ sauce, they’ll match perfectly. right!?

We’re having a fairly “white” ceremony, white tulle, white papel picado, white chairs etc. I’ll be in ivory. I’m not too worried about it. I think it will look beautiful.

@Sunnybrook: That’s the right attitude!!
And, if anyone freaks out because your dress isn’t the exact shade of white as the table linens, you can add them to the BBQ sauce theme!

I think no one will notice, but if it were me and I got super neurotic about it, I might try and incorporate some ivory into the decor as well, like with ivory table toppers or ivory flowers in white vases or something.

I like the idea that you’ll stand out instead of blending in with your chair and table linens if you wore a white dress.
