I try not to answer the door…like ever lol but if I do and someone wants to talk to me I tell them I’m the nanny or that it’s my sister’s house and I just act really dumb and annoyed until they leave.

I’m assuming you live in nyc. That never happens here with the flyers and random people knocking. They probably couldn’t get into the building anyways.

Although back when I was in highschool we geet annoying jehova witness people coming at the ass crack of dawn on saturdays. It was so annoying!

Haha luckily that never happens to me because Darling Husband and I live on the top floor of an old courtyard building and our buzzer is broken… so people just leave flyers and crap on the front stoop.

The thing I hate about living in my city is that cars don’t respect the “pedestrians have the right of way” law, even though some streets have neon signs in the middle of the lanes saying that they legally have to stop to let us cross! I almost got hit by a car flying down the street as I got off the bus yesterday!

I’ve never had people knock on my door soliciting.  I have had a few people knock on my door if they need help or are a neighbor asking to borrow something.  It never really bothers me.

I think I’m in the minority of not being bothered by that kind of stuff though.  I mean, telemarketers are especially annoying, but they’re just doing it for a paycheck.  I always cut them some slack…I’ve worked some crappy jobs when I was younger.  I didn’t deserve getting treated like crap just for doing my job, even it it meant slightly inconveniencing the person for 30 seconds.

“No, thank you” works just as well, and doesn’t ruin a person’s day, as saying f*ck off does.

Well, sh!t.  Now I want a banana split. I hate living in the city becasue of all the NON STOP CONSTRUCTION.  It’s never ending.

@LindsayMaree:  Personally, it’s a safety issue. Like, leave my stoop before I freak out.

I feel ya! I haaaate door to door sales pitches. Although we don’t get them *that* often. But what annoys me more are all the freaking ads that get left ON our mailbox. They are there like every 2-3 days in a bag hanging from the mailbox. Pisses me off— STOP killing trees and annoying me with your shit becuase I’M NOT BUYING. I never even take them out of the bag. Off the mailbox and directly into the trash in the garage on my way into the house.

@Broken Biscuit:  Whoa, I wasn’t giving you a lesson in manners.  I actually wasn’t even refering to your swearing about the flyer, as you didn’t tell him to f*ck off, it was an accident that he overheard you.  You posted this asking if anyone else was bothered by this and I gave my opinion and experience.

I just ran to the corner store and picked up some candy bars.  If you lived closer I’d offer you one to brighten your day.  They’ve worked to brighten mine at least…

@LindsayMaree:  She would slam the door in your face because she thought you were selling them.  ;-P

I’m just kidding, BB.  😉
