- Wedding: June 2014 - San Francisco, CA
I’m not a big “center of attention” kind of lady, and I always (jokingly) told Boyfriend or Best Friend (now FH, I guess?) that if he did a big public proposal, I would say no – even if it’s on live TV in a baseball stadium. So I came home from work on Friday and was surprised to see he was already there (usually I get to our apt about a half hour before he does.) He was drawing me a bubble bath, had lit candles, poured a glass of red wine, turned on Eva Cassidy … said I had been looking really stressed lately and wanted to do something nice. I’m perfectly pleased but a little clueless, so I jump in the tub and he sits down (on the outside of the tub, on the linoleum floor of our tiny outdated bathroom) to start brushing my hair (he does this sometimes when I’m upset, it’s very soothing and intimate). We talk, and he gives a little speech about what a wonderful person he thinks I am, and how much I’ve brought to his life (I’m blushing even typing it to be read here, because like I said, so NOT into public displays!), all that jazz. Then he’s like, “Oh! I forgot the finishing touches!” He jumps up and comes back with a basket of rose petals, which he dumps into the tub with a flourish, then adds a rubber duckie to the water – “Because I deserve to always have a friend with me, no matter what.”
The ring was tied around the duck’s neck.
SUPER cheesy lol, but it worked! We’re thinking May 2015.
