I’m curious to see what others say, but I don’t think it matters.

@mepayne:  Hair then make-up. Hair involves heat (at least 9 times out of 10) and heat melts make-up.

Have you hair done, get your make-up done and then have finishing touches done on your hair after your dress is on.

Hair then make up, like specialsundae said the heat can melt your makeup and you’ll probably want to wash off any stray hair product before starting your makeup!

I struggled with this, too. I actually had my airbrushed foundation done first, then my hair (so I didn’t get foundation in my hair… which my mom (who was doing my hair) was really worried about), then the rest of my makeup. It worked because they were both done in the same place.

I had my hair curled and pinned up (to keep the curl) first and while that was setting, I had my makeup done. After that, she let my hair down and finished styling.

@PhillyProper:  I had airbrush for my trial, boudoir photos and my wedding. The mist is so fine that I wouldn’t worry about it getting in your hair or anything. She avoided being near my wedding dress, but she said it was more for paranoia than actual concern. I wore a light colored tank top during the trial and a light-colored dress during wedding prep and both were completely clean and fine.

The schedule they sent is what I went through for both my trial and my wedding day. I wore my hair down so she curled it and pinned it to set (so no spray or anything), did my eye makeup, did my airbrush makeup, and then pulled out the pins, fluffed out the hair and spray everything down. If you are wearing your hair up, I think the same applies as they will curl everything to give it volume/bounce/shine but then do your makeup and then finish your updo/halfdo/whatever and get it all done-done.

I had make-up first, then hair.  I was laying back in this fancy chair thingy, so I think if I’d had my hair done it might have flattened it.  After my hair was done, she retouched the make up a little and then I was on my way!

I did hair and then makeup both times I was married and any time I’ve had both done professionally (for prom for example).

I think it is a matter of preference…my makeup girl likes to go first before hair so the airbrush doesn’t get on or near the hair but I really think both are fine 🙂
