Hi Kyona,

I’m not sure exactly where you are referring.  It may be helpful to post the State etc.  Are you referring to Columbia, MD?  You may get a better/more helpful response this way.

Also, I would talk to the people at your reception location.  I’m sure they’ve had many receptions with a varied number of people, and maybe you can ask them what the largest they have had is, etc.

GL!

I am going to move your post to a local board for Baltimore. As for the space, go with what the venue says. They know best. 175 is way less than 220 so it sounds like you are well within that limit.

Also, FYI, you may want to make future posts in regular letters and not all-caps. Using all-caps is considered shouting 🙂

Growing up in the "Columbubble" I’ve only ever been to the other barn when it was a venue for local bands. Which…can fit alot in terms of standing room.  I bet you could fit 175 seated in there, but a few tables might be moved for dancing.  I’d ask the Other Barn people what they say and how they’d set it up.  Make them draw tables on a print out diagram, show you photographs or ask for references if you need to. Good Luck!

ps.  If it can’t fit 175, you could always check Oakland Manor.  You can fit about 200 under the tent.

I have a friend who had her wedding at the Other Barn and loved it, but I don’t know how many guests she had.  I generally have found that event people exaggerate the space by 1-2 tables of people – that is, they can fit 220, but there isn’t a lot of room to walk.  I would trust that you can fit 175 in a space that can seat 220, and you can always take a couple tables away for dancing if you need more room.
