We all have thoughts like this!  I really wanted to get married on the anniversary that my FI returned home from a deployment, but he really wanted to get engaged on the anniversary of the day we purchased our home, which left only a few short months to plan!  Instead, we picked a lovely date later in the year and I’m glad we will have an additional day to celebrate our love!

I don’t have a specific date but I would really love a spring wedding. I am also limited to school holidays because of teaching so April would be ideal. I’d rather like 2015, which he agrees is a reasonable time and we’ll have been together 9 years by then. So he could do with getting his arse in gear!

We are not yet engaged, so the date I have as my ‘wedding date’ is just the date that I want to have as our wedding date once we are engaged. He likes the date so as long as he proposes with enough time to plan a wedding for that date (which he bloody well better!) 21/02/2015 will be our day.

I picked that date as we decided that we wanted to get married in February, which is the end of summer here, then I picked the date going by Saturdays and because I like the number 21. We also picked 2015 as I like that we will have started dating in 2010 and then married in 2015 – silly, but it makes me happy.

Our dating anniversary is October 10th. so of course 3 yrs ago I was hoping to be engaged so we could get married on 10/10/10. but that never happened so I like May 25th,2014 now. My parents anniversary is May 6th and my grandparents is May 7th. I thought about keeping it going by using the 5th or the 8th.  but the 25th is the sunday before memorial day. i think it would be cool to have the wedding on a long weekend, for OOT guest. Plus Sundays are cheaper, lol.

SO really wants to get married in October still, either October 4th, 2014 or October 10,2015 (our date). but I want to get married right away, not wait till 2015. so I will have to just wait and see, if we get engaged. then I’ll go from there… (but it will probably be 05/25/14)

It’d be fun to do our anniversary, but that doesn’t fall on a weekend in 2014 when we want to get married, so I actually think we’re going to go with “whenver the church and venue is available in a date range”

Romantic yes?

Haha, sorry… I just had to!

Ideally, I would have loved to get married on our dating anniversary, but that falls in January. I didn’t want a snowy wedding (at the time we were planning… now, however, I think it would have been amazing!), and DH’s brother wouldn’t have been able to make it. We settled on August because BIL and his GF woud be in town, and timing worked with everyone else, as well.

@LittleWigeon:  I too want an April wedding. The end of April, so it’s not too cold, because we want to get married outside. I don’t want to get married in the summer like everyone else I know, and I don’t want to do fall or winter, so April is perfect.

Ideally I would like to get married April 2014, but I would like a year of engagement, both to enjoy this time and also because I plan on making my dress, and I want to have plenty of time to work on it and maybe start over on it once, just in case.

Unfortunately, SO can’t propose until he gets a police job. He has been applying for these positions for nearly a year and a half- it’s a tough field, and the application process can take months with each department. The good news is that he is back in with a couple places where he was ranked very high last year (one even offered him a job, but they had to revoke the offer due to budget cuts).

If all goes well, hopefully he will have a job in the next 2-6 months and then immediately pop the question, lol. I think I can manage an 8 month engagement. Then my whole plan will be on track!

@Mz_HyProfyl:  I wanted May 25, 2014 too! May 25 is our anniversary so that’s what I really wanted and SO planned on getting married on that day.  It seemed like such the perfect day and I was very excited about it.  I also liked that it was a long weekend bc I have family on the east coast, the mid west, and Hawaii so there will be a lot of traveling involved.

But, my little sister got engaged before me, and she is getting married in June 2014.  She had her heart set on June and didn’t want to get married in June 2013 because she had a baby last month. She knew I was hoping to get married in May 2014, but SO didn’t propose yet and she doesn’t want to move her date when I’m not even engaged, which I understand.

So now I am a little resentful/ angry with SO about that bc if he had his act together May 25, 2014 would have been perfect… and any other day doesn’t seem as good.  I’m pretty disappointed about it now and I guess I’ll get over it eventually and it’s probably silly to be so upset, but I’m just not over it yet. :-/  I guess the downside to having a perfect date is the disappointment if it doesn’t work out.

@Mischka:  Your day of February you want to get married on is the same day of that month on which my SO and I met 4 years ago!

I don’t have a particular date, but I do have a dream (which may or may not come true) of getting married under blossoming apple trees in May. Hence my made-up wedding date on my profile. I’m not even engaged yet, but the apple blossom idea has been on my mind for years. We’ll see if that can be made a practical reality someday. Now if only my SO would show some interest in getting engaged. . . 😛

@gingerkitten:  Oh, my, you plan on making your dress! That is so rare around here! I am too– do you have ideas already? I do, but only tentative ones since I probably won’t be getting married for a couple years.

@Creiddylad:  Yeah! I figure I’m too picky that I wouldn’t be happy with something off the rack, and I’ve made other things (such as my prom dress), so this seems like the best solution.

I have a few ideas, but like you said, I don’t want to get too specific with details on it because my tast may have changed a little by the time it happens! I’m thinking mostly lace with organza in a fit n’ flare style and sweetheart neckline, but I keep debating where the “fit” should stop and whre the “flare” should start.

Part of me would love to make a living by sewing wedding dresses custom for girls on etsy or some other site, but perhaps my vision would conflict with others’ too much for that to work, haha!
