Just out of curiosity, who’s the photog? YOu can PM me if you don’t want to post it.

I think that going for an amaaaazing photographer is NOT something you will regret, whereas you may regret it if you don’t go for someone who you think is super super talented. But at the end of the day it really depends on whether you can afford it. I personally think that photography is one of the splurges that is most worth it (vs cake or favors etc).

I honestly would have been on the no way Jose’ bandwagon, however. Why not try to see if there are things that your 1st pic photog can do, for example if he offers workshop studios for other photogs, why not let your wedding be their mock wedding?  I think there are definitely ways to work it and have your top pick photographer take your pictures.

Any chance you can share who he is? That way the bees can have a dig around to see if you can find someone on that sort of level for less?

I spent a boatload on a photography/cinematography package and I’m SO happy I did! Photography was my #1 priority and I knew who I had to have, and I was willing to sacrifice other things to have that. If it works in your budget and it’s what you want, go for it! I’ve had friends who saved money by using a photographer who was really cheap and they’ve called me literally crying that their photos were so awful. I’m not saying that happens to anyone by all means, I know there are great photographers at all price points, I’m just happy we spent the money how we did!

I think the photographer is totally worth it. The only real complaints I have ever heard from any of my friends about their weddings was the photography and how they wished they had gotten a better photographer.

EDIT: Ok just looked at his website. DEFINITELY DO IT! You won’t regret it.

Agree… if you can find it in the budget to spend the extra $1500 you should def try to do .. but def ask if there is anything you can do to kep the cost down! You never know… he may be able to shave off a few hundred.

@lsvogel: Totally agree. It’s not just that he’s talented…he has a very specific style that I haven’t really seen in many other photogs in the area–and trust me, I”VE LOOKED. His pictures are so vivid and full of life–they practically jump off the screen. If he’s available and you can afford him, I say go for it.

something else to consider. when you get your pictures after your wedding, are you going to be thinking, “I wish I had just done it”?

Damn lady. I am in the same boat as you. The photographer I love is about $1500 more than any of the others. I keep going back and forth trying to decide if I want him or not. The others are close but not close enough. I don’t know if I should and just like you, we are meeting them next week (NYC to TX) but based on what you’ve written and what I’ve seen from previous brides, I might just bite the bullet and splurge. You know? It’s a once in a lifetime affair. And your guy’s photographs are ah-mazing.
