I do find it odd that your married grandparents would get split up in that scenario. My family is super similar to yours. I have a set of grandparents and then a grandma. He only has his parents. I think I’ll have my married grandparents go together, and my mom can go with her mom (the widowed grandma). I’ll be with my dad obviously, and then FI’s parents would go together and each of the guys would go one by one, same as bridesmaids.

I don’t think it’s necessary to “balance” the family walking down the aisle. If you want to include grandparents in the processional I think that’s fine. 🙂 Why can’t your grandmother and grandfather walk together? And then either your grandmother + aunt, or maybe your grandmother+his grandfather (if he can make it?)

I think before you (or your mom!) plan any walks down the aisle for them, it would be best to consult them first. Sometimes older people have mobility issues, and they may prefer not to. If they’re not comfortable with it, maybe you could come up with some other way to honor them.

Plus, won’t the groomsmen be walking with the bridesmaids already?
