I know Bees put their recaps of their weddings, but beause I am not married yet, I wanted to do a little recap of my very eventful 2011. I got engaged during the summer and we had our engagement party a few months later in the fall/winter.

Soo pretty congrats! Btw, are you filipino? B/c i am and my Fiance is Hindu. If so, what are your plans for your big day? Are you having 2 separate ceremonies?

@Diana R.: Oh my goodness! Hello fellow “Pindu”! *waves*
I am Filipino and Fiance is Hindu as well =) We are definitely going to have 2 days worth of wedding festivities. We’re having an indian ceremony followed by the reception. But the day before, we’re going to have the civil ceremony followed by the church blessing. My parents and I don’t really want the full Filipino Catholic wedding since it’s more religious (vs. Hindu ceremonies are more cultural). So far that’s our plan, but we haven’t decided on detail logistics.
How about you?

Awesome! I love the cultural aspects 🙂
Gorgeous ring and beautiful couple !

Awesome! Yea, we thought about a 2 day affair but figured it would cost too much money. But looking back now, I kinda wish it was 2 days…So we are going to do a one day thing- Hindu ceremony from 1-3pm, Catholic ceremony from 4-5pm, then cocktail and reception to follow. Everything is going to be held at the same venue but I feel like the day is going to be too long now. Oh well, too late since almost all our vendors are booked haha.
Are you having a reception after your Church blessing? And i assume you’re going to wear a white dress the day before? That was another issue- I want to wear my white dress the whole time but I am told i MUST change into a lehenga for the reception so i will only being wearing the white dress for half the reception.
Glad I found you!! You must be so excited! I can’t wait to see what I’m wearing. My FIL’s just came back from India with outfits for me so I will get to see it this weekend. Will keep you posted..

@Diana R.: The church blessing is not going to be more intimate. It’s mostly for families that came from out of town/country and our bridal party who can make it (since it’s a Friday). Then we’ll probably just going to have lunch at a restaurant after. The mendhi will be Friday night.
I plan to wear a knee-length white dress for the civil and church blessing, but I am planning to wear a white floor-length wedding dress for the reception. I was never told that I HAVE to wear a lengha for the reception, but I was pretty adamant about a white dress so my Future In-Laws are okay with it. I pointed out that it’s important to me since it’s not like I grew up knowing I’m going to marry an Indian and I don’t want to wake up later on regretting that I missed out wearing a white dress. Although my Future In-Laws said they’ll still get me a 2nd sari that I can wear whenever I want.
I’m glad I found you too! My Fiance is actually living in NYC right now and I’m hoping to move there after we’re married. =)
