Here’s my proposal story! I really would love to hear everyone’s proposal story!
Connor and I met back in April of 2015. We went on a date a weekend after meeting and have spent every moment together since. For our one year anniversary we planned a vacation to Hawaii! (I highly recommend going through Costco Travel. We spent under $2k on our flight and hotel for the week!)
Before we left for Hawaii we made a list of things we HAD to do. We chose: A Rain Forest Hike, Dolphin Encounter, and Snorkeling. We talked about Hawaii a lot before we actually left and I had mentioned that my dream was to have a picnic on the beach as the sunset! He said that would be nice but we didn’t plan it out (we had every day planned) so I didn’t really think about it anymore. Sunday was our first day in Hawaii and it was a designated beach day. We spent the day at the beach and the pool. We drank fruity drinks and laid out and tanned (well he burnt and I tanned). We headed back to the hotel and he mentioned ordering dinner and eating on the beach. It was a perfect way to end our second night in Hawaii. So we ordered pizza and wings (our favorite couple meal), bought a bottle of wine, and grabbed our beach blankets.
We had to buy red-solo cups and dump out our water bottles and put wine in them because drinking on the beach is illegal! As we were walking to the beach he seemed super sweaty and nervous. So we set up our beach blanket and we ate. We took some beach selfies (selfie stick!) Then I noticed Connor looking around a lot and then he mentioned how packed the area we were in was. So he started picking up our set up and said he wanted to go somewhere else. He moved us to a secluded part of the beach. As soon as we set up he got up to go use the restroom which confirmed my suspicions…
My poor boyfriend had the runs! It explained the nervousness and the sweaty-ness! He finally came back and sat next to me. We sat and we talked about what we thought our Rain Forest Hike was going to be like the next day. Next thing I know we’re walking on the beach and he asks me “So babe what do you think of this past year” I started laughing and asked him if he wants a review and he says yes. He always puts me on the spot like that so it didn’t really make me suspicious of what was coming. As we got closer to the beach he started telling me that I make him the happiest he’s ever been. He bombarded me with the sweetest compliments about me and our relationship. In all honesty my memory gets a bit foggy because when I saw him on one knee holding a wooden ring box, my heart and all my emotions overwhelmed me. But I will forever have him saying “And this is why I want to ask you to marry me” etched in my heart and my memory. I remember hugging him and kissing him. I remember him placing my ring on my finger, but I don’t remember really getting a good glimpse at it at first. I was so so excited and happy that I got the urge to pee. So we ran around trying to find a restroom. As soon as we found one is when I really laid eyes on the ring that he had picked out for me. This is the point that I wanted to cry. I didn’t know how I got so lucky to have a man in my life that was so amazing and thoughtful and chose me to spend his life with. No, I’m not being shallow. It wasn’t the ring that made me want to cry. It was what it represented. It represented him and how well he knows me and CHOOSES to still love me. I have never received such a thoughtful gift. Everything about the ring screamed how much he paid attention to the little things. The band is rose gold and dainty. The stone is a round solitaire and the whole ring is conflict free (Brilliant Earth!!).
I still remember sitting on toilet (peeing guys!) and just admiring my ring and getting so happy about getting spend the rest of my life with Connor. Oh and by the way, Connor never had the runs! *insert laughing gif here

Thats so sweet! Were you expecting the proposal at all? Mine took me by complete surprise. My fiance surprised me with a trip to Italy on valentines day, but the trip wasn’t until a few months lates. We first went to Milan and then to Florence. Our first day in Florence, I had left my purse at the hotel because he brought his backpack. We were waiting in line for the David meseum when I decided to reach into his backpack to find gum. He asked what I was doing and wiggled around trying to get my hand out of the backpack. All of a sudden I felt a velour box. I immediately knew what it was and panicked, dropped the box, said I can’t find the gum, and proceeded to stand in line awkwardly in complete silence. He wasn’t sure if I actually found the box so he didn’t want to say anything. We then went to Rome, where he had plenty of romantic opporunities to propose, but he didn’t so I started to think he changed his mind. Our next stop was Venice. The hotel where we were staying upgraded up to a sister hotel that was on the Grand Canal and had its own patio on the water. One night we went out to eat and had the biggest, most delicious meal with dessert. When we were walking back to the hotel, he said he wanted to get gelato. Turns out he was stalling becuase he was nervous. Of course, I couldn’t turn down more dessert and by the time we got back to the hotel I was in pain from all the food I couldn’t say no to. We were in the hotel’s patio when he suggested that we take a selfie. I started fixing my hair and next thing I knew he was on one knee holding the ring. For some reason my automatic response was to yell GET UP GET UP GET UP. After he got up, I said yes and he spent the next day asking are you sure? I absolutely was, but I just really hate having attention on me. The walk down the isle is going to be tough.
Prior to finding the ring I had no idea he was even thinking about proposing but turns out he had the ring for months. A year before proposing he asked what kind of rings I liked and I asked him to show me what he would choose for me. Unfortunately we do not share the same taste in jewelry. So I found a few setting I liked on instagram. I assumed he was asking for wayyy in the future. He ended up finding the jewler that designed one of the settings and working with them to pick out a stone and customize the setting I had originally liked a while back. Between the time he surprised me with the trip and the proposal, I was following the jeweler on instagram and saw them post a video of a ring that was similar to the ring I liked a year earlier but the stone was different and I liked the setting better overall. I thought about sending my fiance a screen shot of it but decided against it. I didn’t want him to know I was casually checking out rings. After he proposed, I found out that the ring I recently fell in love with on instagram was the actual ring he had the jeweler make for me. The thought he put into the ring and proposal was beyond what I could have ever imagined. I think I’ve told this story too many times, but it still makes me smile.

My now husband proposed aroound Halloween on 2014. We had been to a Haloween party so he hsaid to me that he might need me to me put my costume back on the next night. Sure enough when I got home from work he asked me to put itback on. I didnt think much of it but when I came out in my costume he had a plastic pumpkin filled with candy and gave it to me with the ring box in the middle. I LOVE chocolate so that was all I saw. He literally had to take it out of the pumpkin and put it in front of my face. He got down on one knee, teared up and said all sorts of nice things. It was perfect, private and intimate. He had sold a car to get the $$ for a ring so I knew it was coming but I didnt know when. It was quite a treat! We got married last June and are trying for our one and only child.

We met September 2010 the first day of high school and we started off as friends. 3 weeks later he asked me out and we’ve been together ever since.
July 2 2016 we had a black tie affair to go to. When I got there he proposed to me in front of 600 people. He and our mothers planned our engagement party for the day we got engaged. It was hesitant magical.

I’m not much of a writer, but more a visual person so here’s a video of how he proposed 🙂 He had hired videographers to just take footage and he edited the video himself.
Was totally blindsided because I had been out all day with my best friend for a girls day (manicure, the Nutcracker, walking around downtown). We were walking around the Space Needle when we noticed a projector and a screen with a video saying what love means to them so we decided to stick around and watch. The people in the video are from Shane Co Jewelers where he bought the ring, which is why I didn’t recognize them haha. In the video, the people jumping up and down in the background when he got down on one knee is my brother and his sister, who will be my Maid/Matron of Honor. The rest is history

I was completely blindsided by his proposal, never saw it coming even though my mother dropped not so subtle hints that I completely did not catch (she’s about as subtle as a freight train).
We have three picture frames hanging above our bed of the tallest waterfall in our city. The middle frame was missing the complete picture of the falls so he decided one Sunday we should go get that picture. I was all for it until half an hour into the two hour hike the bugs were so insistent that I wanted to turn back. But he was damn and determined to get this picture so I was like okay fine, I’ll suffer. Finally we reach the waterfall and he pulls me onto this rock and the next thing I know he’s down on one knee and I have two things going through my head: one that I’m absolutely certain he is the one and two what the hell does this ring look like! I’ve never been so excited in my life and the absolute surprise just made it all the better. To this day I have no idea what he said because there was an absolutely certain thought running through my head that I knew I wanted to marry him.
Just wish I’d worn something a little nicer than aqua green spandex shorts (I still think about it and cringe).

these are all so romantic and sweet.
Mine is just kind of funny. It was Christmas eve I had just gotten home from work and was wandering around in an old tank top and jeans. I was searching for his Green Card he had lost it and didn’t want to leave town without it. I looked everywhere it should have been but no luck so I crawled into his closet to look for it. I found it and crawled out quickly so I could get ready for our plans to go see Christmas lights and get hot chocolate down town. Before I could get all the way out of the closet he proposed and then quickly apologized for not going it under t be Christmas lights. Definitely not your typical proposal but bi found it sweet that he was so nervous. And how many people can say they were proposed to while crawling on their hands and knees out of a closet. Lol 😁

We went on vacation to Canada for our 8 year anniversary, his 35th birthday, and to celebrate that I’m about to start grad school. I love planning and he hates it so he never plans anything except our anniversary dinner. So, naturally I did all of the planning for the trip, with nothing EXTRA special for our actual day. Our anniversary came and passed but he wanted to set up dinner for two nights later to celebrate. One week into our two week vacation we head out to dinner.
I get stopped by the house host to talk and he forgot his sweater, so he runs inside. (Secretly grabbing a ring I don’t know exists). We drive over to the site and head up Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver, Canada. We had to take sky ride gondola up (although he had no idea about this part, it was just extra romantic and thrilling for both of us). We got there thirty minutes early so we just walked around looking at the gorgeous view. We ate a lovely dinner in The Observatory overlooking Vancouver.
After dinner we went to go up another chairlift to higher viewpoint as the sun was setting, only to find out it closed at 8:30, it was 8:45. Then we decided to walk around more and maybe get a refund. We walked to one point and he asked how I liked the view. I said the other one was better so we headed over to the other side. He went to ‘get a toothpick’- really he was asking the manager of restaurant we were just at to come take pictures. He actually said “I’m about to propose can you come take pictures”. All this time I’m looking at the view, being grateful to be with such a nice guy for so many years.
He came out, took off his sweater cuz he was hot then stood next to me and asked me what I like about our trip to Canada. I told him the sea and green trees and the amazing food. Then he said he wanted to play a game. I asked ‘2 truths and a lie?’ He said no ‘while in Canada…I’ so I said ‘while in Canada I ate delicious food.’ I still hadn’t turned to look at him at this point because of the gorgeous view. He said my turn ‘when in Canada will you marry me?’ And when I turned around he was down on one knee with a closed black velvet box.
And the lady from dinner is standing right there TRYING to take pictures of us. Turns out she is not used to Androids, so she took a video of it instead. Although she only began once we were hugging after he asked. Still a lovely moment to have caught!
Ps. This was four days ago! Sorry for all the details, I’m still in shock and reveling in the glory of finally being proposed to by my honey of 8 years on vacation on the top of a mountain in Vancouver!

I got proposed to last week! It was on a trip to the alps, in a little alpine garden on the boarder between Italy and France. I knew he was going to do it on the trip, but I wasn’t sure which day it would be on. We were wandering around the garden taking photos. He waited until no one else was around then got down on one knee and asked me! It was very romantic, and the setting was amazing (see pictures below).

The short version:
He proposed. I jumped off the building.

I got proposed to in March! My fiance is a chef and came home from work that Saturday. We had a reservation at our favorite restaurant. Apparently he had the ring in his pocket and had an elaborate plan to ask me. Well, our dog had other plans! I guess she kept sniffing his pocket…When he sat on the couch with me, she started licking his pocket. I assumed he just had something from work on there and she was snacking lol! I got in the shower and my fiance put the ring in the drawer…well, I guess our dog just stared at the drawer and wouldn’t stop! So then he tried to hide it in the basement and she wouldn’t come upstairs. I had no idea this was going on and continued getting ready.
When I was ready I sat on the couch and we were starting to get late….and later and later. Finally my fiance barrelled down the stairs ith our dog, got on one knee, and asked me! I was so shocked I didn;t even look at the ring until he was like, “Do you want to put the ring on?” I don’t know what his plans were exactly but I loved how spontaneous our proposal was

My fiancé woke me up with a huge bouquet of flowers and told me to get ready to go out. I had a feeling it might be coming but I didn’t expect it since he brings flowers home once a month. Long story short he took me to a warehouse building and pulled out champagne, directed me to walk up to the roof and had me turn around to find a helicopter. I was in complete shock, he proposed right by the helicopter and told me we were going on a helicopter ride throughout Los Angeles and OC. We flew over the Hollywood sign, Universal Studios, beaches, hotels (specifically some of the historic hotels we wanted to have as our venue.) After the helicopter ride he took me to a restaurant on a hill with gorgeous views of the city. It was truly a magical proposal!

We went out drinking the night before so I was a liiiiiiiiitle hung over. He said he was taking me somewhere at 1pm and I had to be ready, but wouldn’t tell me where we were going. So we drove down to Laguna Beach and went to Rubys Diner, (starving and hungover), I was already ready to order because I get the same thing every time but he insisted we get an appetizer. SO we did, and then waited and waited and then finally ordered our food. We ate our food and at this point I was ready to go to where ever he was surprising me. But no, we had to get dessert too. So we get our dessert and then I see these two guys walk into the restaurant and go into the restroom together. Didn’t think anything of it. I’m done with my shake at this point and he gets up to use the restroom, which he does all the time and leaves me sitting at the table forever hahah. I then see the two guys leave the restroom and then leave the restaurant. And here comes my boyfriend. So I asked him if he saw those two guys in the restroom and he was like “What, no why?” So I made a joke saying ohhh I think they were F****** in the bathroom hahahaha we were in Laguna Beach after all. Soooo after 3 hours of being at Rubys he finally tells me that he was taking me to a Nightmare Before Christmas exhibit and I get suuuuper excited because it’s my favorite movie ever. We leave the restaurant and then stop for him to get cigarettes and drive to the beach. I’m thinking, “okay, what happened to TNBC exhibit and why are we at the beach and why does he keep dragging this all out”… So we go down to where the tide pools are and I see the two guys from the restaurant set up down by the pools with video cameras. I mentioned to Chris, hey those are the guys that were Fing in the bathroom, but didn’t think anything of it because a lot of tourists visit Laguna Beach. So we go out and look in the pools and I look behind me and he’s on one knee and proposes! Little did I know, those two guys that I though were having a grand ol’ time in the bathroom were actually meeting him there to put a microphone on him because they were going to secretly film the whole thing!! You wouldn’t believe how embarassed I was when I learned they heard me talking about them the whole time!!! Hahah but they we’re good sports and joked about it after, when they sent us the video. My Fiance was stalling at the restaurant and while getting cigarettes because the videographers were stuck in traffic! I was kind of bummed that there wasn’t really a Nightmare Before Christmas exhibit BUUUUT the proposal and getting to marry my best friend definately makes up for it 🙂
