We’re thinking of using all 3 services – I know they’re a big company and a lot of people are against them, but we went to one of their showcases and loved a husband-wife team of photographers that come at basically a 2 for 1 price. The rest of their prices seem really reasonable too.
The only thing I have a problem with is that they “assign” you your vendors. I just emailed our rep yesterday & asked if there were any more showcases in our area so we can meet & pick our own DJ. If you are going to use them, you should definitely go to a showcase so you can meet the actual people who you can hire instead of thePros picking for you. I know you’re from Jersey – the showcase we went to was at Dave & Busters in the Palasades Mall, but I know they have them all over.

We were thinking of going to their bridal showcase on January 12 in Claymont, DE.
Why are people against them? The only complaint I have so far is that they contact me too much and they don’t have enough photos on their website.

One of my friends used them for photography and was extremely disappointed with her photos. Another friend used them for DJ and photography and she was pretty happy, though I was unimpressed by her photos. I think their prices are good and quality is fine but I wouldn’t set high expectations if you go with them.

I am going with their photo and DJ. THe first photog they assigned me was HORRIBLE. I cant even explain how bad his photos were. I couldnt believe they suggested him to me!! I asked my rep to see other photogs work and she gave me 3 other options to choose from. 1 of them is AMAZING so I chose her. The only problem is that it hasnt been confirmed yet, so Im calling tomorrow to make sure she can definitely do it! I havent heard anything about DJs but really how bad can a DJ be??? We are going to be VERY specific with our music (they have a page where you can customize what you want and dont want to be played) and we will request that he doesnt do a lot of talking! I think it should be okay. What complaints have you heard???

A friend of mine used all three services and was very happy … especially with her photographer.
Good luck! 🙂

I think my sister used them for photography! They were fine. My photographer said they are his biggest competition since they are so inexpensive. I just booked the photog my venue recommended, I honestly didn’t even think about other options.

We met with our people at a showcase, which is definitely the way to go. Things turned out alright, but if I had to do it again I would go with someone other than ThePros. Our DJ was basically just good for the sound set up, the song list I sent was used as a playlist, and when it was out he played music that didn’t fit with our style, the other music, or what we’d discussed during our “pre-event” phone call at all.
The videographer was not “unobtrusive” like they describe on the website. He had an old school super bright light on his camera, which he shoved in everyone’s faces (like on the dance floor, scaring people away).
The photographer was good enough, but the best shots were the ones that we directed (let’s go over here, hold on I’m going to do this, you need to get that in the backgroud, try going from a lower angle, etc.). It turned out ok since we supplemented pictures from our friends and family, and I just let some go (he only took a total of about 450, it was one or two shots here and there so there wasn’t a lot to choose from when someone had their eyes closed or the wind was blowing someone’s hair, most candids were unusable with me having my mouth open mid sentence).
I guess you really get what you pay for (and it’s not really that inexpensive, just less expensive compared to over-the-top wedding prices!)
In short: be really careful. If you are laid back and willing to give lots of direction (and will be ok when those directions are ignored) then the Pros can be a good option. Don’t expect much though.
