Okay, so SO and I have been looking at rings since last February. I don’t really wear jewelery, and I was insufferably picky about the ring I wanted. I’m not a snob, by any means, I just have very particular tastes. Our shopping mostly consisted of us going, looking at rings, trying on rings, me wrinkling up my nose and shaking my head, and repeating the cycle. We were also on a very tight budget, as my SO doesn’t work due to his epilepsy and I make just enough for us to get by. I saw a million rings I liked that were way out of my budget, so it was a challenge finding something I loved and that we could afford.
I ended up finding the perfect setting with an aquamarine center. It was gorgeous, but the aqua just didn’t have the sparkle I was looking for. I bought a moissy online and had the jeweler set it. It wasn’t supposed to be ready until 12/5, but after a gift from a family member, we had enough to pay it off. The jeweler said it was scheduled to be set on 11/28, but SO received a phone call last night telling him it was ready!
I think he felt really bad that I paid for the ring myself and that I was so involved in the decision-making process–he felt like he had to do something to contribute to the ring itself, so he wanted to be the one to go and pick it up, on his own, without me. His seizures mean that he can’t drive, and our jeweler was about nine miles from our house.
BEES. HE WALKED ALMOST TWENTY MILES TOTAL TO PICK UP MY RING.
At this point, I don’t even care that I had to pay for it. I can’t believe he did that. I haven’t seen the finished product yet, and I made him promise to hide it from me until he actually proposes so that he gets that moment of surprise over revealing the actual ring itself.
I just wanted to share. I’m tripping out. Time to get a manicure!

jillbean1217: That is sooo sweet! I honestly think walking almost 20 miles to get the ring is more romantic than just whipping out your wallet to pay for it! Congrats, I can’t wait to see picks of it once it’s on your finger 🙂

I am so excited for you!!! I remember reading a post earlier about how you had bought your ring due to his epilepsy. Then he walked 20 miles to get it for you??? The things you are willing to do for each other is a beautiful thing. True love right there!

lavenderstone: I know, I think it’s more romantic too, I mean, I appreciate a hard worker, but I think it’s really sweet that he wanted to do something to get the ring, even without having the money. I can promise you that my happy ass would not have walked that far, especially not in an Ohio winter!
PeachyMama: Thank you! I like to think we’re pretty in love, haha. I know we’re not traditional, but that’s okay!
sweetercheeks: 🙂 Me too!
vhenke1: MrsBuesleBee: KeeKalena: Thanks guys! I’m so excited now I can’t stand it! It’s funny though, I’m not nearly as anxious about the proposal now knowing that we have the ring taken care of.
Willowtree2222: That is pretty funny! I thought about Amora, but the FB moissy was just easier to get. The ring was super pretty with the aqua, I wish it could have sparkled the same. I just want to know what the finished product looks like, I’m going NUTS!
GirlyGirl24: Haha, I kind of swooned too, not gonna lie. He said getting there was the easy part, but the walk home was a bitch.
TrueLove407: NO! I am so antsy. I know it will be soon, I’m hoping before the end of the year. We’ve been talking about it for forever, and I know he’s ready, but I think he also wants time to come up with an awesome proposal idea.
