I’m cross posting this thread because I’m just too excited. You may have seen my other post on this board, but I am new to this site and in the process of planning my proposal to my girlfriend! About a week ago I finally ordered our “pair” of engagement rings and they came so much faster than I was expecting! I picked them up today and they are so pretty! I am really pleased and extremely happyto have them. Since me and my Girlfriend are still in college and are on a really limited budget I had to go on the hunt for affordable rings, but ones that fit our tastes. The more I looked, I began to realize that I really wanted a diamond ring… even if it was just a little baby diamond, and that’s what I got. My Girlfriend has extremely simple tastes and probably would have been more than happy with just a plain silver or white gold band, but I couldn’t get myself diamonds and not get her any so I ended up going with a very delicate and simple white gold band set with tiny diamonds.
I was initially quite worried about the quality of the diamonds being bad and not looking nice in person because the rings were so cheap, but they all look very nice and sparkle a ton (even under today’s extremely overcast sky). I think I got a fair deal for these, I got them on sale and bought them online so it was a bit of a gamble but I knew I could return them if they weren’t good. I paid $243.18 for my ring (with the larger diamond, ~0.25tctw) and there is one cloudy looking inclusion but it’s off to the side of the diamond and doesn’t bother me at all! I paid $117.18 for my GF’s ring, and both are in 10k white gold. The really small diamonds are tiny but they sparkle so much! I never expected them to look so pretty but I’m happy 🙂 As of right now I think I have decided the proposal is going to be somewhere from March 30th – April 4th during our spring break trip to Vancouver, BC. So that means only a month left!
I wish the pictures showed how pretty and sparkley the rings are, but I think they still look nice. Thanks for reading!

Beautiful! I am always TOO excited when I have something like a gift for someone I can barely wait to give it to them. Keep us updated on your proposal! 🙂

Very pretty rings! I can’t believe you got them for such a steal. Congrats!

Oh I have another question for people who know about rings… When I ordered mine I did not have the option to order in half sizes. I wear a 7 1/2 but this ring is a size 8. It felt a bit loose when I tried it on but not so much that it would fall off. I feel like I might be nervous washing my hands with the ring on though. Should I consider getting it sized down a half size or just leave it as is and see how it feels?

If it feels loose I would size down personally. Better safe than sorry! Gorgeous rings BTW!

lovely!!! How exciting!!!

when I first got my ering it was uncomfortable and it felt way too big. I kept thinking I needed to take it to the jewelers and have if modified and sized properly. After wearing it for a week I got used to it and now it’s still a touch big but it doesn’t feel like it did when I first got it. It’s like my hand got used to it. I would give it a week and reassess. You can always have it resized then if you don’t change your mins.

They’re beautiful and match really nicely, congratulations!!! I love smaller diamonds and think yours is gorgeous, especially in that compass setting!

Can’t wait to hear about the proposal. And hold off on re-sizing until it gets hot because your diggers may swell. (Unless it’s so loose it falls off constantly).

Beautiful, beautiful rings! I love both of them, and I also love how they complement each other so well. It’s almost like they are a “matched” set, in a way. Yours looks amazing on your hand, and I love how pretty the center stone is.
As far as sizing, I agree with PP: wait until the weather is warmer to see if your fingers swell enough to take up the extra 1/2 size. Also, if you are not used to wearing rings, the size it is now might seem uncomfortably loose, but you might come to find (after wearing it for a while) that it is comfortable. Is the ring loose enough to slide off accidentally over your knuckle? If it is, then it might be a good idea to resize or get sizing beads or a sizing bar put in. If it won’t slide off easily over your knuckle, then you are probably in good shape. (I am kind of weird in that I like my rings to be about a half size too big. I can’t stand the feeling of too-tight rings. But ring sizing is a very subjective and personal thing. My “just right” would be someone else’s “too big”.)
Good luck planning your proposal! I’m looking forward to reading your special story once you pop the question!
