I personally think it looks “finished” as is, but I have had a few people say that not having a band after the wedding would be odd. What do you think? Does it need a band, if so, what sort of band would look decent? I don’t want to take away from the look of the ring now.
Ps. The ring is not set yet, this is an example with a 3/4 carat diamond.

Amazing ring!! if you could get a custom one to fit then sure but i dont know if it needs it.

that’s beautiful and I think if you like it the way it is then you shouldn’t feel pressured to change that

I don’t think a band is strictly speaking necessary. I am not going to have one.Do what you feel is best.

How pretty! So different. Don’t be pressured. If you don’t want one, don’t get one. Is it possible to have a thin band made that follows the line of the e-ring?

I think it looks complete as is too!

I like it as-is, and probably would not add a band to it.

I think it looks beautiful without and if you don’t don’t want one then thats your call. But I do think a thin diamond band would look pretty with it and not distract from the e-ring.

I didn’t vote. I don’t think it needs one, but I do think it would be lovely with a band as well.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I guess I have a while to think about it and look at it on my finger before I decide. Does anyone know what the price difference is in getting a stock band vs a custom made? I think that’ll probably be a big factor.

First of all, I LOVE this setting. Gorgeous! I couldn’t decide what I think would like best… and since I loved looking at this ring anyway, I decided to have some photoshop fun to see what 3 options would look like. (1) The ring & diamond once set by itself (2) ring and straight band and (3) ring and custom band.
I think after this I like the custom band, but if it is too pricey I’d suggest the straight one and you can wear it with it sometimes and without sometimes. Hope this helps! Sorry the pics are so big!

@RedWine13: Oh my gosh those are absolutely gorgeous, thank you sooo much for taking the time to do that! But I think you’re right, the custom band does look better than the straight!

I dont think it *needs* a wedding band, but personally, I prefer a wedding band. And I sort of like the straight one a bit more than teh curved. It’d look better on its own too if for whatever reason you wanted to waer only a wedding band.

@pinkshoes: I was about to say the exact same thing…it doesn’t *need* a wedding band, but OP might regret not having one in the long run for a variety of reasons. I too prefer the straight band to the curved – the curved band looks like it’s just part of the ering and is unwearable by itself.

What if you got two straight wedding bands and stacked them with your ering in the middle?
