Hey bees!!!! So we have narrowed down our honeymoon to two all inclusive resorts in Playa del Carmen. Either the Royal or the Aventura Spa palace…..they both look beautiful! They have equal reviews on trip advisor.
Can anyone share advice about which one they would pick????

I used to work at Canyon Ranch Spa, and just saying the Aventura Palace Spa- leaves the CR one in the dust! No comparison!!! I haven’t stayed at the Aventura overnight, but have stayed at many of the Palace Resorts and they are top notch-You will LOVE it!!!

This is my first post, and I felt compelled to respond since the Aventura Spa Palace is near and dear to my heart. That’s where my Fiance proposed! I loved the hotel, and obviously the experience; however, if you’re a beach person, then you may not like the Aventura Spa Palace. Unless they changed it, they don’t have much of a beach. Check any of the travel webites for reviews, many of the posts comment on this fact. I am a true beach bum, and the main reason that I go to Cancun is for the beautiful beaches, and gorgeous water, and The Aventura Palace just didn’t have it! Otherwise, the hotel otherwise was beautiful, and the service was great!
I stayed at the Royal Cancun, and it was AWESOME! Great beach, water, sand, service, rooms. It’s ALL that! I travel to Cancun every year, and I have stayed at many great hotels, but I have to say the Royal is my favorite. I haven’t stayed at the one in Playa del Carmen, but we did drive past it, and it wasn’t as nice (at least from the outside) as the Royal Cancun. If the Royal Playa is anything like the Royal Cancun in terms of service, food, and atmosphere, then my vote is for the Royal.

We are going to the one in Play Del Carmen most likely 🙂 A family friend there said that the Playacar Palace has a beach! There’s essentially no beach and no water activities at Aventura. But the plus side to Aventura is that there are like, 7 resteraunts and only 2 at Playacar. Also Aventura is essentially a spa, so if you’re a big spa person go to Aventura. If you’re a beach person- do Playacar! If you get bored at either one, you have exchange privilidges where you can go to one resort or the other and eat in the resteraunts, do the activities there, etc.

I would go with the Royale. The Adventura Spa Palace doesn’t really have a beach.
I toured the Royale last year, and it’s very nice. It does have a formal, rather stuffy feel to the lobby, but the rooms are great.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate all of your advice! We have decided to go with the Royal simply because of all the comments about Aventura not having a beach. My travel agent actually told me the same thing, and since our plan is to literally do nothing but lay on the beach, the Royal won!
PS> I’m so excited too because I have always wanted to swim with dolphins and my fiance promised me we could do it on our honeymoon! I can’t wait!!!

We actually looked in to both. The thing we liked about Playa was that it seemed like there was more ‘stuff’ to do off of the resort; however, it may not feel honeymoon-ey. I had some co-workers who went to Aventura Spa and they loved it. The thing that sucked about it was there wasn’t an actual beach.
We ended up deciding on going to Negril, Jamaica. The Couples resorts had more amenities and activities (like sunset cruises) included for less expensive. I’m sure a vacation anywhere will be just wonderful!
