Wow… just wow. That woman is crazy!
Try not to take it personally. Antique rings are gorgeous! Can we please see your ring?
I originally came on here to talk to other ladies who got engaged with colored gemstone rings because my coworkers, clients, and even one of my best friends made fun of my ring for not being a diamond. The most common things I heard was that I didn’t look engaged or married, that the color was ugly and hard to match with anything, and that I needed to stand up for myself and ask for a “real” engagement ring, etc.
Everyone on the Bee complimented my ring and made me feel better. We would be happy to do the same for you!

Loving your response…thums up!!! Well, she sounds stupid and maybe even a gold digger. She sure made a fool out of herself. I’m sorry she made you feel humiliated, but i think you handle it all great.Wear your ring with pride and congrats on the engagement.

You handled this really well, and she was definitely rude. Your comeback was perfect and I hope she learns from it.
But. You say she’s known for this kind of thing, it sounds like she has foot in mouth disease rather than malicious mouth disease.
I’d chalk it up to her limited view on life, not a personal comment aimed at you. If you can manage it, she’s probably to be pitied instead of loathed. Of course, you still don’t need to invite her and she should learn how to make pleasant small talk, but in the bigger picture, if this is the rudest thing anyone has ever said to you, you’re doing well.
now, PICTURES PLEASE and congrats!

I don’t think I would have held my tonge that long. She would have never gotten to ask to come to the wedding. Props to you!

HAHAHAHHAHA I LOVE YOUR RESPONSE!!!!!! I’m so sorry this was said in front of your Mother-In-Law, but girl, that response is EPIC.

i’m so impressed with your response. I very rarely can think of a good comeback in the moment. 🙁

That’s the rudest thing anyone has ever said to you?!
Tbh she probably thought she was being “helpful” and giving you womanly advice as such. If you love your ring then that’s all that matters xo

I love your response! Way to go! She was super rude for sure!
Also, if that’s the rudest thing anyoen has ever said to you, can we please switch lives? 😉

HAHAH love your response. That woman is so pushy and out of line. What a bitchy thing to say. When someone gets engaged and shows you their ring you say “congratulations!” and that’s that. Wow would I love to give this woman a piece of my mind.

I purposely went to another board searching what does your ring looks like to gather such an amount of negative comments and i am amazed….The ring is so beautiful! And unique! I never saw such a color and can’t even guess what the stone is! You should be totally proud of it!!! Sorry that you had to hear all of that crap.

LOL goodness. Well you don’t have to be humiliated dearest. I would be embarrassed for her, but it is no reflection on you at all! As you said, everyone loves it. I’m sure she was just trying (as weird as her way was!) to connect with you. Obviously she hit the wrong notes and hopefully she apologizes. Your response to her request to go to the wedding is classic LOL. Good luck!
