Unfortunately Brilliant earth has a huuuge history of scammy shady shit. It’s nust hard to find because they make people sign NDAs to get the items they paid for!! It’s insane. I would continue blasting them – everywhere. Twitter, fb, insta, pricescope, google. Copy and paste, share the video. Warn people that their Xmas presents may be held hostage. Warn people that the gifts they just purchased may show up with shoddy work. Get their attention and keep it until they give you your shit!

2 possible scenerios I’m thinking.
1. They knew the stone was set loose, but sent it to you anyway to meet their deadline, in addition to holding your certificate hostage just in case you complained.
2. They do not have the certificate bc they sent your diamond ring to the GIA lab in NY to be evaluated. Then called GIA and cancelled the certification to get your ring to you faster. GIA sent it directly to you which explains the missing earrings too. Is this scenerio possible? I’m not even sure BE is referring to a GIA certificate or if GIA does them now for lab diamonds but I think they do. Did you check the senders address on the box? Just curious. Is it possible they want your ring back and told you the repair is now 8 weeks bc they really plan on resending it to GIA to complete that process?
Either way, they lied to you and provided terrible customer service so they’ve lost all credibility in my mind. I’m sorry you are dealing with this.

doesn’t appear BE uses GIA for their lab diamonds.

I would be absolutely livid with that setting, the stone isn’t set properly in any way and for the CSR to accuse you of damaging the setting causing it to become loose is just wrong. Honestly with you disputing the charges with the credit card company is best because they haven’t fulfilled the order due to the missing cert and earrings. 8 week wait for them just to unset the stone is ludicrous and they should be ashamed.
I am wondering if you can even have a local jeweler unset the stone since you have the claim on the setting , I’m sure BE will want the setting back and if that’s the case they can say you voided the return and warranty (setting & stone).

I cannot imagine the stress. Seriously I would not give them opportunity to screw you over again. You gave them every opportunity to make it right.
I would also get a custom setting locally. That setting is cheap and totally unnacceptable.

Wow. That’s some serious shadiness and fuckery worthy of moissaniteco. How on earth do you screw up setting a single stone in a solitaire setting? Good grief, I’d hate to see their pave work. I’d be really pissed off and would write to the owner/director and Yelp. Fuck Ashley Madison.
But now I’d be afraid you might have the wrong stone although it is lovely, I saw it on the other thread. If it’s inscribed you can probably verify it online. I know you can do this with many mined diamonds, so I would imagine lab diamonds must be similar.
I’d be having an epic meltdown, kudos to you for staying calm!

my ring is from brilliant earth and I had no problems. I am so sorry you are having so many issues :(.

good idea! Lab diamonds can also be tracked since they are inscribed. I verified mine with the help of a jewler.

OMG this is terrible! I’m so glad we decided not to order from them. Did you ask for the manager right off the bat? I would have – who the hell do these girls think they are? Laughing at a customer?! Like come on! I’ve been in customer service via phone before and I would have been fired if I acted like that! My Fiance would have been flipping his shit if this happened to us lol. He is constantly on the phone with PayPal for dumb shit they do so I can only imagine what it would be like with these people. What a friggen clown show.. I can’t belive they are “holding” your diamond earrings and certificate because of bad reviews. That’s just bad business- they’re not doing anything to rectify their mistakes, they’re just making it that much worse by not sending you the items you’re supposed to have. Report them to BBB explaining all of this.

That is insane! I have never heard of a jewelry company that makes their customers sign NDA’s in order to release their jewelry to them!! If that isn’t shady and bad practice, I don’t know what is. We wanted a lab diamond this time around so we can take advantage of the cost savings and still have a beautiful diamond. But if we’re going to spend thousands, there is no way I’m going with BE after reading all of this crap! We’ve decided to go with Clean Origins. I’ve heard lots of good things about them. I hope the OP can return her ring for a full refund and go that route too. I couldn’t deal with the stress of worrying about spending that much money and not getting what I paid for – go with someone reputable for the peace of mind!

I’d return it, get a refund and start afresh.
Also, you don’t need to have a ring to have a Christmas proposal. Lots of people get engaged without, or else get engaged with a cheap temp ring they then use for travelling with/during activities that are higher risk?

Oh no! So sorry to hear that this is causing so much hassle and stress.
Try filing a complaint with the BBB. For a lot of companies, this tactic is completely useless, but I looked up Brilliant Earth and they have an A+ rating and are accredited (which means that they really care about their BBB rating). You might have some success as they will want to resolve your issue quickly to preserve that rating.
For anyone else reading, this tactic often works with cable/cell phone companies in the U.S. as well.

I’m so angry on your behalf. I also bought from BE but now I really don’t want to support a company like this! I’m glad you are speaking up. They should refund you 100% and make reparations for this crappy experience and stop doing this to people. They should also probably fire the sales rep and customer service employees. I’m sure they were taking direction from above though.

3 words.. OH HELL NO…
1. that is a LOT of money to shell out on any item
2. this company has been around a LONG time-and this is the single busiest time of the year not to have their shit together-no excuses
3. this is not a new company or a start up, they aren’t operating out of their mothers basement
The fact that you had to keep calling-red flag
The fact that WHOEVER at BE put that ring in a box and sent it out for shipment?-major red flag regarding their employees
The fact you did not get your cert, or your free gift with purchase? pure crap.. I would also contact the BBB and do a write up there.
I would make sure all items were returned and a full refund was given to be done with them. There are many other companies willing to source the kind of stone, shape and size that you are looking for. I would even contact JA to find the proportions you’re looking for. They do impeccable work. I’m so sorry this happened to you, but I thank you for sharing your experience with the Bee.

I haven’t read all of the replies but I would report them to the BBB especially since they are withholding something that is yours!!
