Yesterday was an amazing day! The last thing I wanted was shower, I am 54, my fiance and I own four homes between us, and we didn’t need anything!
But my little sister, who lives in Florida, would not take no for answer! She planned a wonderful day, with the help of my sister in law, niece and friends here in NJ, at one of our favorite restaurants in town.
My precious nieces were my gift “assistants” and sat at my side during an awesome luncheon!
The best part was being surrounded and honored by 28 special, wonderful women in my life! I am so happy my Aunts, cousins, friends and my fiance’s family, which included his 89 year old step mom, were there! A few people were missed, because they just could not attend at the last minute; my cousin had to fly off unexpectedly to Switzerlsnd on business on Friday, and my future step daughter in law gave birth just 10 days ago, and as much as she wanted to be there, couldn’t (I told her she better not be there unless her doctor said it was okay).
All of this was enough, but the genorosity of their gifts was unbelievable; I have a lot of thank yous to write. one of the most precious gifts was a Chritmas decoration made by one of my fiance’s cousins, that had some of his late Aunts Christmas decorations incorporated into it. I only knew her a short time, when she was very ill, so we will cherish this and have a part of her with us during the holidays.
I hate being the center of attention, and I am usually the giver, and don’t care much sbout getting anything back, so I am still overjoyed and overwhelmed by all of this.
So, the moral of this story is, enjoy days like this whenever you can, with the people that you love!
