I waver on this.  Sometimes I feel like its nice and large, and sometimes (rarely, but on occasion) I wish it was a wee bit bigger.

I think that the shrinking diamond phenomenon is pretty common 🙂  It’s just because you look at it every day and get used to it!  It is still just as big and gorgeous as it always was 😉

I think it’s normal. When I’ve only had my ring 3 days so I can’t really say much, but I’ve heard several people talk about it. Like Mademoiselle said, you look at it every day and get used to it.

Yes, unfortunately it does happen.  Once in a while though I get a look at my diamond and think “Wow, that is big”  I love those moments.

Wow! I just got my ring .73 in a round halo and it looks huge to me.   I sure hope it doesn’t shrink on me.

Could she have been referring to the band?

But yes, sometimes I feel like my centerstone is bigger than other times.

this is definitely possible. i have a fading diamond complex. it doesn’t look as shiny to me as it used to, even though i get it cleaned regularly and it definitely still sparkles.

I agree, I think it’s just because we get used to them. Or I look at my BFF’s 2.5 carat engagement ring and all of a sudden mine seems like a tiny lil thing, ha.

Totally normal – also affectionately known as the Diamond Shrinkage Syndrome. 😉  Not a clinical or medical term at all but I think it’s appropriate.

Oh man I’m soooo not looking forward to the shrinkage! I’ve asked for a 1.7 princess centre instead of the 2.2 so that it’s more affordable but part of me is a little worried shrinkage will set in ASAP. then again maybe I just need to get off the Internet! You lovely ladies are warping my size perspective!

I feel the same way. Mine is 2.2 cts for the center and it definitely seems to get smaller. It doesn’t help that it’s one of the smaller rings in my office.
