Right ladies, tomorrow begins the prep for Paris! I should really have started tonight but the evening has just run away from me, and we have to have an early night as he has a job interview tomorrow.

I am working from home and have a feeling I may be making some of those hours up later…

I couldn’t book tickets for the Eiffel Tower (not until the end of April, anyway) so we’ll have to queue if we want to go up that. I’m not the biggest heights fan but it strikes me as the sort of thing everybody should try to do at least once in their life!

BeeDD:  Just have to tell you that the Eiffel Tower is WORTH IT. I don’t like heights either, but was hands down my favorite thing I did in Paris. Incredible.

Nghh! I am looking forward to some *relief*.. just from stress, from life. I am definitely looking forward to the blooms and the weather. I’m in the South and it’s already gorgeous, so that’s helping me keep centered and calm.

My father died recently (two weeks ago), so that, along with a handful of stressful ticket items fell down on me at once. There’s a lot both me and SO are dealing with, and we’re doing fine… very supportive and close with each other, so we’re handling things well enough. It’s just a lot. And I miss all the wedding talk he did, and I wonder if it’s even on the forefront of his mind anymore (I’m sure not). Then again, I think he’s always had a time in mind and I’m just the one who’s clueless.

But yeah – with feelings about my Dad and getting through the constant busy of each day – I’ve less ‘room’ to think about it. I *am* looking forward to May though — my birthday, school finishing (I teach college), and an upcoming trip with his daughters will refresh and rejuvenate, hopefully.

writersblock:  it’s custom! I order calibrated sapphires from http://www.multicolour.com and got the ring made by http://www.titanium-buzz.com. black zirconium is apparently the only alternative black metal that can get channel set stones. It was a real process trying to figure that one out! I ordered 7 stones but apparently one was too oddly shaped to be used (even though they were supposed to be calibrated), but it turned out great anyway! I’d recommend them but be on top of communication be although the the customs person I was working with was very responsive and helpful the company was a bit unresponsive after I paid and the ring was in the process of being made. They were supposed to send me a picture before shipping and forgot, they also forgot to send the extra sapphire but once I let them know they overnighted it.

thessely:  I’m sorry for your loss 🙁 I hope this trip is everything and more!

We’re back! Had a lovely time in Paris (ended up choosing not to go up the Eiffel Tower – or actually pay for any of the various attractions) but we saw a lot regardless.

I also caught a glimpse of his bank balance when he was putting some money in the joint account, and now I’m not so sure that he’s purchased a ring at all. I’m just going to be patient until the end of the month now!

Hi everyone 🙂 I’d like to join the SIUP! I think it’s really needed right  and was happy to find such a thing!

my story:

My SO and I met two years ago and are both in our early thirties. We moved away from my hometown to a larger city for a major job advancement for his career less than a year into the relationship. When we arrived, he bought us a house and car. It has now been over year and with two homes (one house we rent out until we move back and one we live in now) money is tight to say the least. In 8 months he gets a significant bonus and has made mention of using that to buy my e-ring on several occasions. In the meantime, my sister, his sister and my bestfriend have all become engaged and we are in all the bridal parties. To say the least, there is inevitably lots of wedding talk. I know will happen eventually for us, but I dont want to long it with my constant talk and hinting.

missseaside:  lauralaura123:  welcome to the siup pact!!!

Bf is taking me to the mall to try on rings this weekend (i def broke the pact but I did it bc I’m second guessing my ring preferences).

I’m liking a combo of a white metal engagement ring and a yellow gold wedding band. I already have an idea of what I’d like to look at. Yay!

Haven’t been here for a while, I’ve been avoiding wedding related things in order to keep shutting it up. I think it has helped. I’m busy applying for/interviewing for new jobs right now too, so I’m keeping busy which always helps as well!
