@adoc86:  right? Especially since we could have the bigger space for 100 people and get the cheap $20 pp hbuffet or spend the same amount on better food for 40.

@Tiffner:  Thank you so very much for sharing this thread. i was feeling as though the wedding wouldnt turn out like i wanted. after seeing your pictures i am just as excited as I was when there were 150 guests on my list. we are going down to about 80 Guests and now i dont regret making the change. all my family wont be excited to hear they arent invited but i now know how to explain it to them and how important it is for me to have only the ople that have supported us and actually been there. I could cry right now thinking about how joyful tht day will be. I feel much better that the wedding wont be a “production” and not a big show. Dont get me wrong i want pretty pictures and a great dress but it will all be about He and I

We are having 30 people at our wedding (incl. us!) I am so excited and have just recently found our dinner spot! Feeling nervous about people’s reactions when they find out but…. Oh well!

I LOVE this thread!  I am getting married in Oct 2014 and both me and my fiance have agreed on having a small wedding of about 50 people. It is a second wedding for both of us so we both believe that we should share it with the people that mean the most to us and not a lot of casual acquaintences.  We are getting married in Dallas, where we both live, and have decided to find a restaurant with a private dining room.  I have looked into a few and I am excited that I could feasibly pull this whole thing off and not go broke!   I have found a lot of great ideas on this thread so far and I am really enjoying it!!!

We are also planning a small wedding, I think our final guest count will be around 30-35. My biggest worry was finding a venue that would accomodate a smaller party. I venues that could fit 800 people, we would look ridiculous in such a large space! We are having our ceremony and reception in the same space, a large courtyard. It’s in a small town with several inns and bed and breakfasts so all of our out of town guests will be within walking distance from each other. We will still do a first dance and if people want to dance they can, although I’m not planning on it. We are having an Ipod reception and going for more of a dinner party feel than a dance party feel. I think it’s going to be great! I would rather have a small wedding, it’s more us and less stress!

We’re planning a wedding of 35-50 (if that) in Massachusetts next summer (2015). I’m having some insecurities about not having “enough” people to invite, and I am concerned it won’t be fun for guests. Thank you all for sharing your stories.

Were having our wedding in less than 2 weeks now. Were having a small wedding exactly 32 people. This is our first wedding but we have been together for 9 years and have a daughter so we pretty much have been living as a married couple we just did everything out of order. Were having our wedding at a nice upscale resturant. Were upstairs in the penthouse area and we will be having the ceremony there under a beautiful huge chandelier. Then we will be having a 4 course meal right there as well but in another side of the room. Were having 3 round tables and the way I did the seating was one for his family, one for mine, and one for us and our friends. Were not doing dancing because there really isn’t alot of room up there and were both pretty shy dancers. We do have a full time bartender up there. I am still trying to think of something else to do but well see.

Bump.  I am getting married October 2017.  Things are still in the planning phases because we have a lot of time until then!

But we did a quick guest list and if everyone attends it is going to be under 50 ppl.  FI’s family lives out of state so I imagine not everyone will make it.

Right now our plan is to have an outdoor wedding and really focus on an autumnal theme (we live in MA.  It is so pretty when the leaves turn!).  Lots of pumpkins, leaves, apple cider donuts, cider, etc.  We want it to be casual and fun.  Not sure yet if we are going to have dancing (or even alcohol due to people’s driving times, money, and the time of day – no dancing or alcohol is a concern of mine, hope it isn’t boring) as our wedding will probably be in the afternoon.  A friend offered to cater for us, all we have to pay is for the food costs, and we really want fall bbq food.

But those are all ideas for now. Pinterest has become my best friend!

Kjeff760:  Where was this in Evergreen?  We are currently looking in the Denver area and this sounds beautiful.

Kjeff760:  Where was this?? I’m looking in Evergreen. I believe you’re talking about the Evergreen Lake House for the ceremony, but where for dinner?

Kjeff760:  Where did you have your wedding ceremony? Was it the Evergreen Lake House? And where did you go to dinner after? I just got engaged and live in the foothills and am considering Evergreen. Thanks!

We are eloping but having a small at home reception, we are inviting around 60 but most are out of town and since it’s not the real wedding, we expect less than 40 to attend. It will be an evening cocktail event, lots of drinks and dancing.

lovekiss:  I love your wedding pics and the bed and breakfast idea. May I ask which bed and breakfast you used?
