Wooohooooo!!! I still can’t believe I’m engaged!!! Thank you bees for all your encouragement during the waiting process 🙂 Well, it’s been exactly a week since my FIANCE(!!!) proposed, and I am finally getting around to sharing the proposal story :)…… (Sorry…I was on Cloud 9 then went on a weekend trip with my family :))
To start off, I sorta kinda knew it was coming 😉 (see the hours leading up to it here ) I knew that he was taking me out to dinner, but I didn’t know where. I also saw him messing around with the ring box in the bedroom as we were getting ready to leave, but I pretended I didn’t see 😉 hehe… He ended up taking me to this beautiful restaurant overlooking the city, 72 floors high. As soon as we walked in, however, his perfect plan started to unravel… The hostess walked us down the steps to seat us and said “Oh and congratulations on your engagement!” I was so thrown off that she had ruined the surprise that I don’t think I even said anything to her haha. Awkward. I turned around to my guy, and he gave me the “What an idiot” type of look lol. But then it became real for me, and I got super excited :)… I wasn’t sure, however, if she realized that she ruined it or not, so I was trying to hide my non-sparkling hand just in case haha.
All during dinner, I was wondering when he was going to ask me the question! He kept messing around with the keys in his pocket, telling me he had all this stuff in his pockets and that it was soo annoying. (Lol…what stuff?? A ring perhaps??? haha)….I thought any minute now he is going to pull it out and ask me. But nothing yet. So I thought maybe he was waiting for dessert time. (He had gone to the bathroom once during the dinner so I thought maybe he made a detour to the kitchen staff or something…even though I had told him months ago to not put my ring in any type of dessert lol).
Side note: The restaurant seemed kind of busy for a weekday, and I could tell he felt a bit annoyed that we weren’t exactly by ourselves in a corner or anything, so I wasn’t even 100% sure if he was still going to ask during dinner/dessert. Later we found out through a friend that there was a damn Groupon going on for that night, lol. Fiance definitely paid full price though! Poor guy.
Okay, I thought, it’s gotta be the elevator. When else is he going to do it?? When we walk up to the (only) elevator, however, there are like 5 or 6 people waiting! So I suggest to him that we get a picture by the cool chair in the waiting area (I’m trying to help the guy out!), but he declines. The elevator opens, and the people walk in. My SO tells them that we will catch the next one. 🙂 I am super beyond excited at this point :)))) Little did I know….there was a huge group of people walking up behind me…. So when the elevator doors finally opened again, he BOLTS in there, immediately pushes the “close door” button, and panicks (?) “Quick, get in here!!” hahaha.
I can’t remember what he said at first because it was like a dream, but he got down on one knee and then said to me, “Shinythingsrule, I love you. Will you be my bride?” Swoon :))))…to which I replied, “YES!!” And he PUT A RING ON IT! 🙂
Ahhh :)))) It was so nice just the two of us in the elevator, with the lights of the city outside the glass. :):):):) It was just so romantic, and I loved every moment of it!!!! When the doors opened, I felt like a little kid with a big secret or something haha. I probably had the dumbest smile on my face, but it was awesome 🙂 We then walked around outside by the water for a bit before driving home. On the way back I called my parents to see if I could “drop off some recycling” hehe . (My dad commutes to work out of state, but my mom was there). She came down the stairs and we shared the news! I started crying out of nowhere, lol, but it was cool. She opened some bubbly for us and we relaxed and chatted for a little while before my FIANCE and I went back home to sleep 🙂 So my fiance’s plans didn’t quite go how he intended, but it was perfect and I couldn’t be happier! 🙂 <3
