allsmiles92 :  how long did you keep the soft cup in for? I have a regular menstrual cup and ended up using that but it was weird that it just collected it in there?

mrs_mnv :  If I BD in the daytime, I would leave it like 4-5 hours, If we BD before bed/in the evening, I would just leave it in overnight, really its however long you felt like. It will collect in there, from what I gathered the point is to prevent it from leaking out of you and hold it up near the cervix so it can get where it needs to be.

I like the softcups – even if they don’t work I find they make thigns more comfortable and there’s much less ‘leakage’.

FF hasn’t given me crosshairs but I’m pretty sure I’m either 3DPO or 4DPO (currently CD20 and pos OPK on CD15 & 16 – temps lean towards either 16 or 17)

I’m not sold on the cup.  Even Taking Charge of Your Fertility said it was ok to pee / let everything drip out after a few minutes, because the sperm are already off and swimming – so the semen that is left at that point isn’t really serving a purpose.

Anyone have any links on a biological basis for using this?

I’m definitely sold on the physiology of the Mucinex and the Preseed.

Can someone please explain this Mucinex thing to me and EPO? Is it safe to be taking a cold medicine when you don’t have a cold?? That’s what it is.. isn’t it?? I’m really hoping for a positive this month and I’m not sure how to make Mucinex work for me!

MamaWilson :  it helps thin your cervical mucus in the same way it thins the mucus in your lungs, making it easier for the sperm to swim through your cervix and reach the egg.

I just realized i’m 2/3 of the way through this trifecta unintentionally lol!  I started using pre-seed last month because my EWCM *always* dries up the day before I ovulate, and I was worried that maybe this was inhibiting sperm from reaching my cervix.   Sure enough, I did get a BFP (but it was a CP).  I mean I did other things last month too so no way to be sure it was the pre-seed.

Anywho.. then this month I ordered “flex” cups, not because I believed in the softcup/trifecta stuff but because I always use a tampon after sex because gross drippy stuff is gross.  I figured that this was less waste than a tampon plus it was on sale.  Only I just looked it up in more detail and realized flex cups and sofctups are literally the same product by different brands.  LOL!

So I guess I may as well try the mucinex if I don’t get pregnant again in a few cycles….

As for the skeptics who think none of this helps.  I honestly didn’t think any of this could/would help when I started TTC.  I’m still not sure it can/will/does help or if it’s just concidence when it works.  But as other bees have pointed out, after you’ve been trying for a while you start to figure you may as well try anything before you have to shell out the big bucks to see a doctor about it.

ETA: Flex cups vs. softcups in photos here: https://www.reddit.com/r/menstrualcups/comments/5cle0b/comparing_instead_softcup_and_flex_menstrual_disc/

notice the first comment–softcups was bought out by flex cups, apparently.  I know that my flex cups were cheaper than the softcups I saw on amazon.  Just in case if anyone wants to save a few bucks.

Hello ladies! We have been TTC for 12 months after removing my IUD (I had two over the course of 11 years) so I tested out a variation of the trifecta w/o the cups, I am temping and testing with two different ovulation kits to help narrow down my peak day so I know exactly when it happens. Ended up I actually needing to use mucinex for a head cold and it happened to fall right during my fertile days (fun fun when you have to have sexy time while sick) we did the dirty every day during this window and one day after just for kicks! We used the preseed, mucinex, basal temp, clear blue ovulation and the wondfo strips during last months ovulation….oh and today is my 33rd birthday!!!!

I am going to be taking another test at 10 just to make sure but considering I have never even gotten a false reading with the strips I about 90% positive this is happening.
