So…we had finally decided we would do the legal thing on monday, and have a meaningfull ceremony with awesome reception on friday..
Today, we took a drive around our area to find a place for the ceremony, and I could not be more dissapointed, every place we stoped there was either a train passing by, a freeway within hearing distance…it was awfull…so we decided, EFF the ceremony, we’ll just have the reception and just start saving money again to renew our vows on a sunny beach at our one year anniversary.
But then it hit me, no walking down the aisle with my dad, our daughter will not be a flowergirl, I had bought a long dress for the ceremony and a fun tea length dress for the reception, well, I won’t be needing that long dress…I cried..long, and hard and ugly…I need to let go of the idea I had about our wedding day because honestly, what we want is not an option over here…well, that’s not true, we can have that wedding, we just need to rob a bank first.
I’m just sad right now, I’ll go for a run I guess, clear my mind but I just needed to vent…

Can you keep checking out some areas? It seems odd to me that you waited this long to choose a location. Surely you can find *something* outside that would be doable.

There’s not a public park in the area with a nice view? What about a small space you can have the ceremony where you are having the reception?

@MrsTVLover: It is odd…but we just recently ditched our courthouse as the actual wedding location because it looks awfull, and then we got the idea of a ceremony after the legal thing was done…but it’s not something that’s done a lot over here.
we live in a very flat and green area, lot of fields, windmills, and roads, and forrest but that’s all….everything it connected with roads offcourse so you will never have a quite little location. The traintracks are new, it’s been here for about 3 months now, that’s why we didn’t think about a train being a problem when we went looking for a place..we’re used to not having a train passing by.

@Dutchbee: Hi there. Is it a commuter rail line that runs constantly or is it a freight train? All trains run on schedules but freight trains usually run less frequesntly. Perhaps you could figure out the train’s schedule.

it’s a commuter train, it runs every 20 mins. I’ve looked into that! but thanks for the input.
@lindseyl06: Unfortunatly no, we don’t have any public parks, and the ones we do have are in middle of town, for everyone to see….that really wasn’t the feel we were going for! The reception location is a small building in our town, in the winter it’s the cantina for the iceskaring ring and during off-season they rent it out. it’s pretty small, we’ve tried to see if we could do it there but I see no way that could happen..
I guess I just have to get over the idea I have in my mind and keep reminding myself that I get to marry my man…and at the end of the day, that really is all that matters.

Yay another Dutch bee!! I have been lurking for a couple of months, but couldn’t resist signing up after seeing your post 🙂 Congratz on your engagement!
I’m so sorry to hear that you can’t find a fitting ceremony location. Have you thought about moving the entire courthouse ceremony to another district? Your guests probably won’t mind a 30 min drive to the reception location after the ceremony and another district might just have the special location you’re looking for…
