I did the shred on and off a few months ago but now that wedding shenanigans are over with, I have time to try it again (how odd…)
Did Day 2 Level 1 today (Day 1 was Saturday and i am STILL sore from that but decided I’d waited long enough). I expect to be a bit sore tomorrow cuz I pushed a lot harder today, i was ABLE to push a lot harder today. I was moaning and groaning on the first set of pushups on Saturday and today I got through them with just a little whining 🙂
Strength training is BY FAR the hardest thing for me so far! Omg. I climb so i feel like I *should* have decent stength but not NEARLY enough to be able to breeze through this. I’m also super out of shape (apart from climbing) so i’m always a bit surprised when I don’t have trouble with the cardio. Granted, the cardio’s not hard, but it’s still opposite what i’d expect. I’d have thought I’d have a harder time w/ cardio than strength. Oh wells!! I’ve never made it to Level 2…maybe this time!
I’m going to try to get up and do Level 3 before work tomorrow!! Then I won’t feel bad when I don’t do it Saturday cuz i’m getting my PWC and don’t want to have to wash my hair after. 🙂 tmi? prolly..sorry…
Reading how everyone’s trying to eat better and stuff too make me feel bad…I try during the day a bit, but today i had taco bell for lunch (fresh fruit and a scoop of part skim ricotta for breakfast though!) and DH’s making pizza rolls for me for dinner. I feel fat…but satisfied 🙂

@Mrs.Mittens: oooh I’m jealous of your bike =O Here if you want to do downhill you go to the Tahoe area ski trails and some of them still run the lifts during the summer for mountain bikers, it’s so rad! Very difficult on a hardtail though. Tahoe is a great place for xcountry rides too tho…so much fun!
regarding the shred however… I have a stitch! Fi just surprised me that we are going to the cabin for the weekend (fri/sat/sun) there is full electricity and a TV up there…do I bring the shred and do it…I really don’t feel like it but 3 days is a really long break =/

@murmur: I know how you feel…we’re going out of town Friday-Sunday for a bunch of wedding meetings and we’re staying at FI’s parents’ house. I feel weird bringing it with because I don’t know where I would do it at their house where I can be alone. I’m about to finish Level 1, Day 10 today, so maybe I’ll take the weekend off and start Level 2 on Monday. It definitely won’t make it any easier to start back up!

I say take the video, just in case you do find a moment to do it!
I did Level 1 Day 4 last night and it’s the first time I’ve done it two days in a row. It was hard but I did it! I’m sore from the chest fly I think. I played a little bit of Level 2 just so I could see what it was like. Eeek! Looks like it’ll be a good workout!

@murmur: Yeah. I am going to Virginia Beach with a bunch of friends in a few weeks (one of the reasons I started this program!) so I’ll have to take a couple days off. I feel bad about it, especially since I started this thread and everything. I might try to do some exercises while I’m there, but I really wouldn’t count on it. I think I can get away with only missing Friday and Saturday though. Take the video and try to do it at least once while your there. Enjoy the rest of your time relaxing on your wonderful surprise weekend trip (I wish my Fiance would do that for me!).

Day 8, Level 1: Guys, I was totally pathetic today. I was phonin’ it in all over the place. I was back to three pound weights and lady push ups. I just didn’t have it in me. I better hope I’ll be back and stronger than before tomorrow after this “rest.” I don’t think I’m going to go to the gym even. My body clearly needs a break. I did walk 5 miles today though, as per usual when it isn’t a bajillion degrees out. Bleh. It’s okay that I’m not going to the gym, right? RIGHT? *guilt*

@Keltaena: Yes, yes, yes! If you feel like you need a break, give yourself one! I’m feeling the same way today. Not sure what the evening has in store for me workout wise, we shall see!

@Keltaena: OMG! Tonight was the hardest for me since day 1 too! During the side lunges and arm raises I wanted to throw up! I pushed through it though. No extras for me either today. I’m exhausted.

I took tonight off the Shred. I went to the gym as usual and did a brisk 25 minute walk on the treadmill (at varying inclines up to 4 degrees) and abs. I feel like I’m coming down with something though, and when I got home I decided to call it a day with the workouts. I really hope I’m not getting sick. I want to get skinny by July!

Day 9, Level 1: I did better today than yesterday. No phoning it in, but I did do lady push ups and 3 lb weights for most of the exercises. I don’t feel like I’m really getting better . I hope my energy improves again soon–I was still kind of tired today. I was thinking about measuring at Day 10, but I don’t think I will.I wasn’t very good about my diet last weekend, pretty bad really, but I just joined a calorie counting site, so maybe that will help me keep it under control so I can see some results!

I started The Shred this week and today will be day 4!! I am really enjoying it and finding that it’s really difficult to be like, “Oh I don’t have 20 minutes.” It’s JUST 20 minutes.
I’m actually finding some parts to be to easy so I might start pressing pause to do more reps (especially the abs). But I absolutely love that Jillian seems to say the right thing at hte right time.
Does anyone do it with their FI/H?? I made Fiance do it with me last night and he actually really liked it. Hoping he’ll be my shred buddy! I did take before photos but I’m gonna do measurements tonight.

@Wannabe-diy-bride: My Fiance does it with me about every other day. I’m not sure he thinks it’s fun, but he knows it makes me happy!

You know how Jillian is always saying how she doesn’t want any injuries!?!?!? Well, yesterday morning I was on level 2 and doing the Walking Push Up thing. When I got down to the push up position, I swear it felt like my IUD moved and punctured my cervix or something! I mean this hurt REALLY BAD!!! So I got into the GYN today, and the IUD is fine and in place, but she said either I pulled a muscle, or have a hernia (Most likely a pulled muscle though). I have to wait til Monday to see if it still hurts and go from there, and the DR said NO WORKOUTS FOR 7 DAYS. Man!!!! I was so getting into a nice rythym!!!So I will be back next week.
Good luck to everyone and keep up the good work and BE CAREFUL!!!!

@Kelly S: Yikes! Take care of yourself.

Hey ladies! I am on Level 3, day 3-done it every day since the beginning-and feeling great! Keep going, it does get easier. No movement on the scale (I’m thin to begin with, but just sort of flabby in spots), but I look and feel much more toned, especially in the arms YAY!!
@Kelly S: Oh man~I hurt myself too during the walking push-ups on level 2! Not as bad as you did it seems, but I definitely thought at first that I gave myself a hernia. It’s SLOWLY getting better so I assume its just a muscle pull. That stinks you had to stop!!! I do take it a little bit easier during the ab exercises as I can still feel the exact spot I hurt during some moves but I just follow Anita instead of Natalie for those parts HAHA Rest up and feel better!
