Had any one held a wedding at either one of these hotels? I am undecided…Fiance thinks the LPM is ‘old’? I don’t think so plus it has an awesome view (although, guests won’t get to see the day view during the reception at night).
As for the W, i think the Great Room is ‘too victorian’ looking and it doesn’t have views…

If I remember correctly, the ballroom on the W in Union Square was on a low floor and we could hear the traffic from the street when touring the venue. That turned us off automatically to the site.
We loved LPM especially when they mentioned that they can close off one of the entrances in the lobby (the super tall ceilings with mirrored hallway) to hold our wedding ceremony there. I don’t think they allow this option anymore because they have since built a bar/lounge there. The rest of the event rooms seemed very "corporate" and the only selling point was the view on the top floor.
Ultimately, there were too many cons in either places for us so we continued our search. Are there any other places you are considering? Do you like NYC hotel ballrooms in particular?
